Considering buying a pair of used CDJs...

A couple of days ago I was offered a pair of Pioneer CDJ800 MK-2s for about USD$1,000...considering that I've had no luck in scoring a pair of affordable (for me)CDJ1000s, I'm seriously considering going for the 800s.

¿Do you guys think this a fair price? Considering the research I've done, I think they're a steal, which makes me a little more than dubious of the condition the stuff is in...I'll probably go check them out in a couple of days.

Considering I'm pretty much a novice when it comes to DJing, ¿are these decks any good? I wouldn't want to go through the hassle of returning them if they malfunction, so any pointers as to what basic functionality issues I should look for before buying them would be greatly appreciated.

Same guy is also offering a used DJM600 mixer for $600, ¿worth it?

No pointers on buying used CD players tho as I hardly trust them when new, but CDJ-800s come highly recommended: quality manufacturing relative to other players in the same price range, ease of use and adequate size. It's what you want to see at the club. And if someone here ends up mentioning them, try to test their 'basic functionalities' using original but also self-burned CDs, using different methods/file types.

That DJM-600 sounds pricey unless it's in perfect condition (hasn't been moved/opened, no signs of wear false contacts on the EQ buttons but esp. the faders...) so you'd need to find out which year it's from at least. If you don't really want a mini-sampler (which is fun tho) just get a new/used DJM-500. Anyway I think those mixers are practical but they don't sound too good, kinda flat, some of the dynamics you expect when mixing channels together are missing. It's OK all-purpose equipment.

(hasn't been opened or the seller has a recent repair bill for it from a shop)

I wouldn’t buy a used DJM-600 for $600.00.
