djhistory is pretty boring, right?

obviously that's my take on the level of conversation/debate that goes on there, not a very fun board.

just spent a bit of time over on djhistory's forums. kinda painful. but maybe i'm biased because i saw myself getting repeatedly taken to task (for such offenses as turning a 35-minute mix in to allez-allez, when they'd specifically asked me for an under-40 minute mix; maybe i'm just too sensitive). but there does seem to be an awful lot of oldschool-keeping-it-real-maaaaan over there.

the 'where to find a record store in town x' subboard is cool but the rest of djhistory is pretty dire.
i went through all my links and looked at a bunch of boards and was gonna post a link to some board that has livesets but then it was digweed and the like on the last page and i thought fuck it, none of them are anything.

does anyone know of a good board that would help me find good clubs/djs/parties in various cities around the globe? such as for example stockholm for the first week of the new eyar

i can't really speak to djhistory. some people i respect find it useful. then again, some people i respect find soulstrut useful, which utterly baffles me. i read a little of that maelstrom shitstorm and it was kind of amusing seeing everone defend dude, since in my mind's eye every djhistory poster is loaded to the gills with ableton and itching to put out a re-edit.
then again, a board telling you where to find records in Hull (?!) is kind of funny/classic http://195.238.232.184/~djhistory/forum/showthread.php?t=29368

btw, i take back some of what i said about the djhistory forum; having spent more time there, there's definitely some interesting stuff going on. just not quite so much my scene, given its seemingly retrospective focus, plus a UK focus that i don't so much share. but there are some interesting threads, like the one on records that play from the inside out...
