It's be great if Kid N Play hooked up with Rick Rubin and they did a comeback album full of "serious" stuff with strange acoustic covers that was written up by all the critics.

i'm gonna answer this seriously and say that there's a band signed to sub pop in the US called foals that had a song in the NME top 10 list that'll probably be pretty big next year.

That's weird, because my serious answer is in Foals' Myspace top friends, is from the same city, and actually shared a member or two way back when.

Foals are pretty good. I hope they get big.

Also, Todd Osborn’s (Osborne, Soundmurderer) full length for Spectral should be out in ’08 which I think will get a lot of attention.

My serious answer is The Beatles, if the downloadable versions of the remixed back catalogue comes to pass next year. Especially if they manage to get the DVD 5.1 mix versions out as well.

LJ, i'm not saying that it's a good thing (or indeed that they are a largely undiscovered band) but when the catalogue is available for download it will swmap the charts - think of what has happened this Xmas but double it.

Personally, I want Mono and iLIKETRAINS to achieve world domination (not undiscovered for ILM types, but certainly for the general public)

Serious answer? I'm hoping for loadsa luv to be showered upon Ungdomskulen, a marvellous thrash-prog trio from Norway. Of the obvious ones, my jury's still out on Foals. There's a lot about them that I like, but... hmm, wait and see. Palladium are going to piss a lot of people off, but I'm still rather fond, somewhat despite myself. I'm also looking forward to the return of Black Mountain.

mike, as a cardiacs convert you should be anticipating the long-awaited 6th album as well (not that it'll get any coverage; as Guilty Boksen says, the really big records will be the really obvious ones).

In a rush of blood fuelled by seasonal port and sherry, I have just ordered the Ungdomskulen album off of Amazon market place at £4.44 (I haven't drunk enough to pay full price yet).

Prediction:
Fueled by Hot Topic sales, the Sweeney Todd Soundtrack will dominate the charts well into March. This financial success will encourage other artists (like Paul McCartney + Joni Mitchell) to release albums through Hot Topic as well.

Leona Lewis will blow up in the US, and I think Karina Pasian will as well.. they'll be marketed as the "new Mariah Carey" and the "new Alicia Keys", respectively.

My formerly American anglophile friend who now lives in London is all sorts of crazy about Leona Lewis. I'll approach her with an open mind.

To be honest, I think she's really dull but she's got a great voice.

I'd love to see Bell Hollow and Home Video go places this year. They have heaps of potential.
