Was that it? Talk about workshy.

Ismael Klata, Monday, 31 December 2007 12:02 (eighteen years ago)

"Connection". Even though it's a Wire rewrite.

Geir Hongro, Monday, 31 December 2007 12:25 (eighteen years ago)

I should also posit:

and then, Your Least Favourite ELASTICA Single

Mark G, Monday, 31 December 2007 12:26 (eighteen years ago)

"Car Song" was a single too, wasn't it?

LeRooLeRoo, Monday, 31 December 2007 17:31 (eighteen years ago)

Due to user error, I voted for the same song in both favorite and least-favorite polls.

nabisco, Monday, 31 December 2007 17:57 (eighteen years ago)

"It was the best of Elastica singles, it was the worst of Elastica singles..."

nabisco, Monday, 31 December 2007 17:57 (eighteen years ago)

"Connection" was great, but I gotta go with "Stutter."

Alex in NYC, Monday, 31 December 2007 17:59 (eighteen years ago)

Due to user error, I voted for the same song in both favorite and least-favorite polls.

well they were such a rich, multifaceted band

gff, Monday, 31 December 2007 18:23 (eighteen years ago)

stutter!

gff, Monday, 31 December 2007 18:23 (eighteen years ago)

C'mon, it has to be 'Stutter'.

Michael White, Monday, 31 December 2007 21:30 (eighteen years ago)

Car Song was surely a single. It had a video.

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 31 December 2007 21:57 (eighteen years ago)

And I vote Connection. My favorite song of all time, yo.

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 31 December 2007 21:58 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah Car Song should count for this.. I still would have voted for Waking Up.

billstevejim, Monday, 31 December 2007 23:30 (eighteen years ago)

"Stutter," now and forever.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Monday, 31 December 2007 23:37 (eighteen years ago)

"Car Song" was mooted as a single, but they went with "Connection" and "Waking Up" instead if I recall correctly.

Mark G, Wednesday, 2 January 2008 03:26 (seventeen years ago)

Connection >>>>> Three Girl Rhumba.

Sorry. It just is. I went for "Stutter", anyway. The ascent in the pre-chorus is clumsy but I REALLY WANT YOU TO WHOA WHOA WHOA = unstoppable.

But "Car Song" is better. It WAS a single.

edwardo, Wednesday, 2 January 2008 03:41 (seventeen years ago)

Now that so much time for hindsight has passed, what's the consenus on their last, 'difficult' phase?

moley, Wednesday, 2 January 2008 03:42 (seventeen years ago)

Car Song was a single in Australia (I have one, so..)

It has one otherwise unreleased song, "Bar Bar Bar".

I was going by the UK discography.

Mark G, Wednesday, 2 January 2008 03:46 (seventeen years ago)

stutter for sure. although i still have part of the verse to 'waking up' stencilled on the scratchplate of one of my guitars. for some reason.

electricsound, Wednesday, 2 January 2008 04:38 (seventeen years ago)

Connection.

zeus, Wednesday, 2 January 2008 17:03 (seventeen years ago)

"Car Song"

but in this one I voted for "Stutter"

milo z, Wednesday, 2 January 2008 17:08 (seventeen years ago)

Definitely Car Song, but like the man above me, I voted for Stutter.

Finefinemusic, Wednesday, 2 January 2008 20:09 (seventeen years ago)

"Connection >>>>> Three Girl Rhumba."

No one gives them credit for improving the riff either. They took a three chord riff and made it a six chord riff, and the extra three chords are the hook.

"Now that so much time for hindsight has passed, what's the consenus on their last, 'difficult' phase?"

I thought The Menace was awesome at the time and still do. Weren't the reviews at the time generally positive? There were just a lot of people who didn't even bother listening to it, IIRC.

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 2 January 2008 21:52 (seventeen years ago)

I think it was mainly because there was so much copied off the "elastica" e.p. of the previous year.

Mark G, Thursday, 3 January 2008 09:56 (seventeen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

Mark G, Sunday, 6 January 2008 13:14 (seventeen years ago)

i'm quite surprised 1) so many people voted 2) stutter won.

That one guy that hit it and quit it, Sunday, 6 January 2008 13:22 (seventeen years ago)

uh, yeah, i'm quite surprised i never noticed this poll

Surmounter, Sunday, 6 January 2008 13:34 (seventeen years ago)

please tell me more about this "how he wrote elastica man" song

Drugs A. Money, Sunday, 6 January 2008 14:33 (seventeen years ago)

I'm not surprised at all that "Stutter" won. It's the only one besides "Connection" that got played in America at all, and it's way way better than "Connection."

Alex in Baltimore, Sunday, 6 January 2008 14:46 (seventeen years ago)
