"Reconsider, Baby" is more in line with The Reaper's Sacred Cows column than "On Second Thought". That's a good thing, though it needs to be more witty.

His take on London Calling is pretty reasonable I'd say. Is an overrated record.

The guy is wrong, save Lover's Rock, which is the one low-point on the album. Of course, individually they aren't as strong as the others, but as an album, all the way through, they're wonderful.

So I guess this is site is no more now? First Stylus, now this. Sad :(

Cheers. I ought really to point out that the site layout is going to be kind of... well, semi-sort-of in flux for a bit, cos I've not properly designed a website before and I left it a wee bit late to start learning before we published anything, so there'll be a certain amount of mucking about over the next week or so. So any suggestions, criticisms of that are more than welcome (particularly if you know how to improve it, cos chances are I won't have a bloody clue).

RIP Singles Jukebox

As of today, @SinglesJukebox is no more. Feeling really emotional rn but just want to say that there is no other music publication that has had a larger impact on my life. I started reading the site a decade ago and it made me understand so many things about music and myself.

Ffs everything I love is falling apart.

The format and scope of TSJ was one of the best I’ve seen for music lovers. So sad to see it go.

Feeling unexpectedly emotional about it! For the last week, I've been catching up on singles/tracks from last year, and a number of times I've found myself looking up Singles Jukebox reviews to see what that crew thought.

Admittedly haven't kept up with SJ but used to read it regularly and sporadically visit to see what's bubbling to the top each year. Very sorry to see it go.

I never knew that Singles Jukebox came from Stylus. RIP. Anybody know why it’s closing down?

It was a long time coming, really. Just not enough people writing blurbs and the people who helped do stuff on the back end (myself included) dropped duties for various reasons. Also just part of a larger cultural shift with the end of blogs, really.

i'm not really surprised, since the pandemic it'd gotten a lot less active & especially recently it'd slowed down to only a few posts a week

it really had some of the best criticism around, i'll absolutely miss it. thanks to all the contributors here for your great work over the years
