Circle - Sunrise
Pandit Pran Nath - Raga Cycle, Paris 1972
Eric Carbonara - Exodus Bulldornadius
Sir Richard Bishop - Polytheistic Fragments
Radiohead - In Rainbows (the new CD release)
Animal Collective - Feels
Lichens - The Psychic Nature of Being
Stars of the Lid - And Their Refinement of the Decline

I'm quite happy with all of these, and hopefully they will hold me off until next month. I'm drastically limiting my music (and other) spending to save on a trip to New Zealand/Australia the girlfriend and I are planning. So, only 2 new cds/month (or the equivalent cost for used stuff) until June. I finished 2007 with a big purchase, opened 2008 with a gift card purchase, and the Lichens and SotL albums are my January purchases.

Mark Clemente, Monday, 7 January 2008 23:42 (seventeen years ago)

Mark, good choice with SOTL, that's a fantastic album, their best I'd argue, and one of last year's true gems.

Bobb Trimble Harvest of Dreams and Iron Curtain Innocence reissues on Secretly Canadian. I was interested in these from the Dusted review and the track "Premonitions - Fantasy" included within it. After reading about Trimble in The Acid Archives (which I got for Christmas and is AWESOME) I had to have these. Iron Curtain should be in today's mail, actually.

Void / Faith / Double-O / Artificial Peace - DC Hardcore Demos LP
What's the sound quality like on this? Does it have the Void "Condensed Flesh" demo, or the "Hit And Run" demo (or something else)? I've heard a Double O demo off Slsk but the sound was fucking terrible on those mp3s. The EP they did is great though.

Colonel Poo, Monday, 10 March 2008 11:38 (seventeen years ago)

Also where did you get it from? :)

Colonel Poo, Monday, 10 March 2008 11:38 (seventeen years ago)

Shop in Cardiff but this place has it: http://www.lavidaesunmus.com/PAGES/musframeset.html

one month passes...

I finally broke my half year + moratorium of CD buying because I seriously need some new music to play. I bought:

Boris w/ Michio Kurihara: Rainbow
La Lupe: That Genius Called the Queen

I like the Boris album a lot (although Smile is still my favorite so far). Maybe I shouldn't have gotten the La Lupe. I think she put out better material than this (though I like the salsa-oriented second half more than the pop-oriented first half), but I'd probably want to buy this eventually anyway, and the Latin music selection in the store I went to wasn't very good. Actually the store itself is miniscule, but at least they let you preview what you buy.

_Rockist__Scientist_, Thursday, 31 July 2008 18:00 (seventeen years ago)

Stuff I've downloaded from eMusic recently:

Jenny Scheinman - s/t (a detour into country folk-rock for the talented jazz violinist - she has a good voice for this material)

Creedence Clearwater Revival - Bayou Country (needs no introduction)

Thao - We Brave the Bee Stings and All (reminds me of Edie Brickell and that song by Yael Naim from the Apple ads - catchy)

Pete and the Pirates - Little Death (good British power pop)

I must have that new SYR! I was there you know, pretty intense, and even met Thurston afterwards. I gave him directions when he got lost after watching Black Sabbath. ANYWAY, it's been a dry summer but have managed to pick up these:

Kelley Polar - I Need You To Hold On While The Sky is Falling (I never remember this title)
GAS - Nah und Fern
Dave Holland - Conference of the Birds
Dirty Three - Horse Stories
Sandy Denny - Sandy
