Another toughie. I have to go with "Spellbound," although "Arabian Knights" is a perilously close second.

Alex in NYC, Sunday, 6 January 2008 14:06 (seventeen years ago)

Love in A Void narrowly beats HKG and Happy House.

Dr.C, Sunday, 6 January 2008 14:10 (seventeen years ago)

Easier than The Buzzcocks, Alex.

I'm only dithering between 2 here and they are Dr C's choice and Alex's choice. Gonna have to side with Dr C - Love in a Void it is.

"Spellbound" tho "Christine" is a "personal favorite" BTW I think this is a perfect album, not a bad cut on it.

m coleman, Sunday, 6 January 2008 14:54 (seventeen years ago)

it's between "spellbound" and "hong kong garden" for me. i'll go with the former.

grimly fiendish, Sunday, 6 January 2008 16:13 (seventeen years ago)

I'm picking "Mirage" because I'm really in the mood for it right now.

HI DERE, Sunday, 6 January 2008 16:14 (seventeen years ago)

"Mirage" is also a favorite of mine, but they're all good.

LeRooLeRoo, Sunday, 6 January 2008 18:41 (seventeen years ago)

the staircase (mystery). i love the parenthetical in the title.

tipsy mothra, Sunday, 6 January 2008 18:48 (seventeen years ago)

these are all good.

stephen, Sunday, 6 January 2008 19:44 (seventeen years ago)

Spellbound for the drums after "throw them down the stairs". Also, does the opening acoustic guitar of "Mirage" remind anyone else of Mercury Rev's "Frittering"?

Belldog, Sunday, 6 January 2008 19:55 (seventeen years ago)

The opening guitar of "Spellbound" trumps all, I have to opine.

Alex in NYC, Sunday, 6 January 2008 19:57 (seventeen years ago)

Yep, "Spellbound", without reading the other comments. I had assumed it would be all about the first few singles for most folk.

Soukesian, Sunday, 6 January 2008 21:39 (seventeen years ago)

Very hard to pick between the last three. I guess "Spellbound" suffers from overkill, in my case, so I might for "Arabian Knights".

baaderonixx, Sunday, 6 January 2008 21:41 (seventeen years ago)

I suspect I am probably the only one voting for "Playground Twist", but then I would probably be the only one voting for "Join Hands" in an album poll too.

aldo, Monday, 7 January 2008 09:44 (seventeen years ago)

I'm for "Playground Twist" oddly enough. They really should have edited this together with it's b-side on CD somewhere.

Mark G, Monday, 7 January 2008 09:46 (seventeen years ago)

I might have picked "Icon" had that been a single.

HI DERE, Monday, 7 January 2008 15:35 (seventeen years ago)

"Israel", although I admit to liking the live version on Nocturne considerably more. "Love in a Void" and "Spellbound" are close behind.

It's a shame the collection is so skimpy because it really is wall-to-wall awesomeness.

Alex NYC comin' through with the great polls! I missed this one but would've gone for "Arabian Nights," their most Dolls-like moment.

And yes, every single track a gem.

Kevin John Bozelka, Thursday, 31 January 2008 07:37 (seventeen years ago)

These are all great songs, surprised Hong Kong Garden came last though.

nate woolls, Thursday, 31 January 2008 09:12 (seventeen years ago)

That is somewhat surprising.
