Kind of tempting to vote for The Wombles. But it's "Killer Queen", really.

Geir Hongro, Monday, 7 January 2008 03:44 (seventeen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

ILX System, Monday, 14 January 2008 00:01 (seventeen years ago)

Only some hours left to vote now.

Geir Hongro, Monday, 14 January 2008 09:31 (seventeen years ago)

Sparks

onimo, Monday, 14 January 2008 11:54 (seventeen years ago)

louder: SPARKS!

Mark G, Monday, 14 January 2008 11:55 (seventeen years ago)

Can't remember whether I voted Sparks or Barry White. Think it was the latter.

mike t-diva, Monday, 14 January 2008 12:11 (seventeen years ago)

74 much much better than 73.

Rockist Scientist, Monday, 14 January 2008 12:33 (seventeen years ago)

(Maybe just one much, actually.)

Rockist Scientist, Monday, 14 January 2008 12:34 (seventeen years ago)

Dance With The Devil for me.

Oh fuck, I just saw Sugar Baby Love. Oh, bollocks.

Anyway - what's the Factory Records connection with this, fact fans?

Dr.C, Monday, 14 January 2008 12:38 (seventeen years ago)

I know the answer to this, but I'll let someone else have a go.

Billy Dods, Monday, 14 January 2008 12:47 (seventeen years ago)

And it's a really, really great record. Well both are actually.

Billy Dods, Monday, 14 January 2008 12:48 (seventeen years ago)

Yeah, Sparks.

chap, Monday, 14 January 2008 13:10 (seventeen years ago)

xpost - Yeah I thought you'd know, also Marcello and M.Grout.

Dr.C, Monday, 14 January 2008 13:16 (seventeen years ago)

Another predictable Sparks vote. I would have gone for them at the time and it still stands stalwart (but no shame to come second to "Sugar Baby Love" despite Gambo decrying it in the NME as collapse of civilisation etc.).

I also know the answer to Dr C's poser but since I have blogged about it elsewhere I will likewise let someone else have a go at it.

Dingbod Kesterson, Monday, 14 January 2008 13:17 (seventeen years ago)

Oooh - difficult one. I could make a case for at least a third of these tracks.

Sparks is obvious, so I will tactically vote for Leo Sayer: Fantastic song from the period where he was being taken seriously as a singer/songwriter. In retrospect, said period seemed to last for about a month.

Now can some other people make sure that both Slade tracks get at least one vote, and of course the wonderful R Dean Taylor, and Sweet Sensation should really get at least one vote, and Paper Lace, and...oh, you get the picture.

Guilty_Boksen, Monday, 14 January 2008 13:27 (seventeen years ago)

all you ppl voting for sparks over abba will have your reward in Hell

J0hn D., Monday, 14 January 2008 13:35 (seventeen years ago)

hahah--I voted for Carl Douglas.

Ioannis, Monday, 14 January 2008 13:41 (seventeen years ago)

Oh, I found my "Palatine" CD single the other day. Lead track "Transmission", but "Reach for Love" was on there and I'd forgotten. If that is the answer, then yeah.

Mark G, Monday, 14 January 2008 14:40 (seventeen years ago)

Why, will Abba be there? Hner.

Mark G, Monday, 14 January 2008 14:40 (seventeen years ago)

"Rock Your Baby" now and forever

Matos W.K., Monday, 14 January 2008 14:41 (seventeen years ago)

xpost Yes 'Reach For Love' is the answer!

Dr.C, Monday, 14 January 2008 14:44 (seventeen years ago)

Marcello's take on Reach For Love

And the track in question

Billy Dods, Monday, 14 January 2008 15:11 (seventeen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

ILX System, Tuesday, 15 January 2008 00:01 (seventeen years ago)

The Sparks is no surprise. The Wombles high showing (even without my vote) shows they have a large fanbase at ILM. :)

Geir Hongro, Tuesday, 15 January 2008 00:04 (seventeen years ago)

six years pass...
