An album that spawned no less than five hit singles - six if you count the ill-advised posthumours "duet" with Lauryn Hill on "Turn Your Lights Down Low". Makes it perfect for a poll then.

Voted "Waiting In Vain". I fear the title track will do well although it's probably my least favourite Bob Marley track from after he signed with Island.

Hopefully some more votes here (or maybe people have voted without commenting)

Silly me -- I thought we were talking about vintage Bay Area thrash. In that case, I'll go with the title track.

it's a little surprising that this poll hasn't gotten more action - for my money Bob Marley is one of the four or five biggest figures in pop history, and "Exodus" is a key album. I also hold with those who'd say that the Wailers are as important/more important than The Man Himself, and all the extra discussion that goes with that (if there was ever a form of music that dispelled all the auteurist garbage about authorial intent, the primacy of composition, etc etc, it's reggae), but none of that takes anything away from the massive scope of Marley's accomplishment. Maybe one reason we don't talk about the albums as much as we might, though, is that the sum of what Bob Marley "means" rather dwarfs the albums themselves - they're the smaller part of his "legacy" (I dislike the word but it fits I think).

All that said for me the key numbers are "Waiting in Vain," the title track, and of course "Jamming." "Jamming" is so iconic that it's hard to hear it without lots of extra stuff clinging to it. However, it's a fucking unstoppable groove, great sparse melody whose movement kinda gets me every time, and it's a nice open canvas, too: live versions of this song are of course where it's at. Its core is the reason that live versions are as good as they are, though, so it gets my vote, with "Exodus" really close behind.

Natural Mystic is my favourite Marley song, full stop. Great opening build-up, rock-hard bass line, sweet melody, and so much more than the sum of its parts.

For me, "Jamming" is a close second. And it's one of those select few songs that I - of all people - probably enjoy mainly because of the rhythm. It's one of the most perfect examples ever of the reggae beat at its very best. And I like the reggae beat so much more than those beats with more emphasis on bass drums.

Marley has never been popular round here for some reason.
