"reproduction". end of story.

grimly fiendish, Sunday, 13 January 2008 10:47 (eighteen years ago)

(well, okay. obviously not end of story. but not even "travelogue" comes close, and "travelogue" >>>>>> almost everything else ever.)

if this wasn't ILM, i'd expect "dare" to walk this. i think there'll be iconoclastic votes for "secrets", certainly. and probably some ludicrous pro-"crash" lobby.

grimly fiendish, Sunday, 13 January 2008 10:53 (eighteen years ago)

ALSO: does "love and dancing" really count?

grimly fiendish, Sunday, 13 January 2008 10:53 (eighteen years ago)

Travelogue - easily their best..

Jack Battery-Pack, Sunday, 13 January 2008 11:04 (eighteen years ago)

I am with grimly on this.

I voted for Travelogue because I am apparently the only person on planet earth (maybe even elsewhere) who prefers its "Being Boiled" to the single version. And because "Dreams Of Leaving" alternately scares me to death and breaks my heart.

Love and Dancing absolutely counts. It's a totally different record than Dare (or any other record). In fact, I think Fascination! should count too. Discogs calls it an LP even though that's not quite true.

Secrets deserves at least one vote.

"Dare" obv.

Geir Hongro, Sunday, 13 January 2008 13:16 (eighteen years ago)

Um, Geir can't be the only one who thinks Dare is superior.

Naive Teen Idol, Sunday, 13 January 2008 13:39 (eighteen years ago)

All of the lurkers do, surely.

Geir Hongro, Sunday, 13 January 2008 13:40 (eighteen years ago)

kevin, was it you i had the "being boiled" conversation with a few months ago? if not, you're not alone ... hang on ...

grimly fiendish, Sunday, 13 January 2008 15:39 (eighteen years ago)

... ah, it was you! sorry, dude, i was really hoping i could say: "LOOK, THERE'S SOMEONE ELSE ON HERE WHO AGREES WITH YOU!" :)

grimly fiendish, Sunday, 13 January 2008 15:44 (eighteen years ago)

Dare, of course.

Crash is better than its reputation suggests. "Are You Ever Coming Back" is a credible Pet Shop Boys song, and "Jam" really puts Phil Oakey through the paces.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Sunday, 13 January 2008 15:46 (eighteen years ago)

Fascination EP

sexyDancer, Sunday, 13 January 2008 15:48 (eighteen years ago)

i too prefer the re-recorded Being Boiled to the original FastProduct version.. much more heavy sounding..

Jack Battery-Pack, Sunday, 13 January 2008 16:31 (eighteen years ago)

Big ups also to "Secrets," which, in addition to being far more classic than any "15 years later and we're trying our 8th comeback" ought to be, also has the deathless "Never Give Your Heart."

Naive Teen Idol, Sunday, 13 January 2008 21:35 (eighteen years ago)

"romantic?" is going to get no votes, and that will be a shame.

grimly fiendish, Sunday, 13 January 2008 21:36 (eighteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

ILX System, Wednesday, 16 January 2008 00:01 (eighteen years ago)

i too prefer the re-recorded Being Boiled

Whew! For a minute there I felt like The Omega Man. Or I Am Legend. Or whatever.

Kevin John Bozelka, Wednesday, 16 January 2008 00:14 (eighteen years ago)

me too.

Mark G, Wednesday, 16 January 2008 00:18 (eighteen years ago)
