It started with wanting to hear some Kut Klose.

(Yes, some of these songs are from albums released in 1994. They were all singles in 1995.)

OK, right, "Age Ain't" came out as a single in '94, peaked in '95.

I think you kind of chose the lesser singles for some of those, though. "Before You Walk Outta My Life", "Kissin You,"/"Can't You See" "I Wanna Be Down," "At Your Best You Are Love," "Who Can I Run To?", "Lady"/"Cruisin"/"Brown Sugar", "Stroke You Up," "Soon As I Get Home"/"Aint Nobody" would've been better choices.

"No One Else" not "Can't You See"*

The Brainwasher, Monday, 21 January 2008 14:38 (eighteen years ago)

Agreed.

Add "Don't Take It Personal", one of the most underrated singles of the 90s, to that list.

The Reverend, Monday, 21 January 2008 14:46 (eighteen years ago)

yeah i love that songm Miss Thang is a really great album.

In some cases -- Xscape in particular -- I went with songs I hadn't heard to the point of instant complete memory. What felt right at the time, and/or what made sense within the context of the tracklist, won out.

And a couple of those greater songs, like "I Wanna Be Down," were more '94 than '95 -- no?

Andy K, Monday, 21 January 2008 14:53 (eighteen years ago)

"Freek'n" nearly made it but I guess I will never get over the "SO HORNY" bit.

b-b-b-but...

every FREAK'N night and every FREAK'N day
I wanna FREAK your body in every FREAK'N way
every FREAK'N day and every FREAK'N night
I wanna FREAK your body, girl it's so FREAK'N tight
