I'm supposed to spin records at a 16-year-old's big birthday party in a few weeks... and I've been very out of the loop with the hot new radio singles as of the last few months. What do the kids really want to hear at these things? I gotta make sure my ass is covered.

also part of covering your ass is asking the parents to be VERY clear how risque they want the music to get. you'll thank me for this advice when you get that 1st request for 'the whisper song' from a 14 year old girl

Did you ask the birthday girl (I'm assuming it's a girl) what music she's into? And what part of the country are you in?

I have to find all clean versions.. little kids will be running around. I was supposed to recieve an email with a few songs she likes so I can get a general idea, but I haven't recieved anything yet. Northeast US -- I dont think they'll want to hear country music; if they did I would have turned down the job because I seriously have no concept of modern country.

This actually isn't so hard to figure out.. I asked this just in case there were some hot new dance crazes that I'm oblivious to..
