Dreadlock Holiday is my favourite of these

I went for MacArthur Park. Sometimes I prefer Dumbledore's original; other times I need Donna and Giorgio's exegesis - 17 minutes on the unedited 12-inch mix.

Though the version recorded by Jimmy Webb himself on Ten Easy Pieces may ultimately be my favourite.

Personally, I stay away from either. Mika is rather dreadful, unless we are speaking of Mr. Kojonkoski....

It's the sort of song which only really makes sense when it's a number one hit.

Right, it was hard as not many of these I'd care to hear right now, but I went for "The Stand" the Alarm, haven't heard it in years.

I know the Alarm aren't exactly loved, but I don't recall "The Stand" ever getting hate. Oh, and "Rain in the summertime" is just needing an e-tabulous remix and it'd be a hit once again!

"Hey Jude" and 10cc are probably the best. But somehow I'm going for "All Around The World."

I voted for Avril, although really it's Hey Jude, but who the hell doesn't like Hey Jude?

"Who the hell doesn't like [brilliant song/band/album]?" is a pretty typical reaction for me when reading ILM.

Most of the songs listed are pretty wretched, though. I voted for "Hey Jude" not just because it's the best of those - it's just a brilliant song, period.

Didn't think Avril was ever hated on ILM?

"Bengali In Platforms" = indefensible though.

I voted Whiter Shade of Pale. I've heard most of the songs on that list way too many times to ever care to hear them again, and by the way, thanks for getting Good Enough stuck in my head.

"American Pie" is my least favorite, but I voted for a Bluroasis song just to tick off Geir.

This weekend, i prepared a set filled with Nickelback covers, but unfortunately, I left the lyrics in my now-broken car, which currently sits unlocked in a repair shop parking lot. I like the thought of some thief (or the mechanic, for that matter) stumbling across the lyrics to "How You Remind Me" and a $99 guitar.

I haven't got the impression that Lionel Riche is particularly hated here. If I was to include something by a black act (well other than Ocean Colour Scene's drummer), then Lenny Kravitz would have been more obvious.

All these songs are awful. I'm surprised to see how much I agree with the alleged ILM general "opinion". I can't make up my mind so I'm not gonna vote. The results will probably be meaningless anyway cause half the people are voting for the best track and half for the worst.

I like 5 of those for real, and a bunch others as guilty pleasures. Complicated and Hey Jude are both outstanding.

"Hey Jude" has made me bawl my f**king eyes out in the past (hey, I had a step-mother), and I've flipped 180 degrees on "Whiter Shade Of Pale", but the contrarian in me is going to show some love for "Somewhere Only We Know".

I don't understand anybody who doesn't love 'MacArthur Park'.

The best version I've heard of "MacArthur Park" was by Andy Williams, on his farewell UK tour last summer.

One thing I'll always stand with Geir on is that Country House rules

I had a beautiful MDM@ moment to Whiter SHade of Pale once, so I'm voting that. Tho best moment in this list is "Chill out, what you yelling for?"

I sort of agree now that I've heard it enough times to make out the cringe-inducing lyrics (which makes about 11 times total). But I always enjoyed the melody when I stumbled across it. Still do, I guess.

"Dreadlock Holiday" is sometimes seen as a bit racially dodgy.
Also the "white man does reggae, mixes it with lots of pop" thing will always cause a lot of hatred, not only on ILM.

Well, the verses are fine. It's the chorus, which (my songwriter head on here) seem to me the bit that got written first in a jolly ho ho let's play reggae type jam session.

All truly abysmal stinkers, apart from 'Mint Car' and 'Good Enough', which are nice and inoffensive pop-fluff.

Had Peter Sarstedt's 'Where Do You Go to My Lovely' been on the list, it would've gotten my vote.

I am kind of surprise "Bengali In Platforms" received one vote only.
