The Nigel Godrich Poll

Including only the ones he has produced or co-produced, so no "Up" or any of his early works. ("The Bends" is included because he produced two songs on it and otherwise engineered the entire album)

Several marvellous albums, but it has to be "OK Computer", which also needs all the votes it can get in the fight against the evil "Kid A", which I am afraid will win this poll unless the lurkers agree with me.

Geir Hongro, Wednesday, 23 January 2008 13:25 (eighteen years ago)

Well, I voted for Kid A, because it's the best album here.

nate woolls, Wednesday, 23 January 2008 13:29 (eighteen years ago)

I'm gonna vote for Eraser just to be contrary, and 'cause it's my favourite radiohead-type project since OK Computer.

ledge, Wednesday, 23 January 2008 14:05 (eighteen years ago)

charlotte gainsbourg vs silver sun.
difficult choice...

Joris Stereo, Wednesday, 23 January 2008 14:13 (eighteen years ago)

Chaos is, by far, my favorite macca solo album, the rest (especially radiohead and beck) I don't care too much about, so...

AleXTC, Wednesday, 23 January 2008 14:17 (eighteen years ago)

I went with Mutations 'cuz it's my favorite on here. Only Beck that isn't entirely insufferable, for which I'll credit Godrich. Of course the other two insufferable Becks he produced kinda cut into that theory. Oh well, my reasoning sucks!

EZ Snappin, Wednesday, 23 January 2008 14:18 (eighteen years ago)

With typical lack of historical perspective, I voted for In Rainbows.

chap, Wednesday, 23 January 2008 14:31 (eighteen years ago)

He's like the George Martin of the 90s/00s: brilliant work with one band, nothing but shit work with all the others. So, Kid A.

Sara Sara Sara, Wednesday, 23 January 2008 16:20 (eighteen years ago)

yea those travis records are dreadful, aren't they?

Mark Clemente, Wednesday, 23 January 2008 16:21 (eighteen years ago)

not that that's due to godrich

Mark Clemente, Wednesday, 23 January 2008 16:21 (eighteen years ago)

Radiohead's production work is really not that exemplary.

Scik Mouthy, Wednesday, 23 January 2008 16:29 (eighteen years ago)

i voted for the eraser because it seems like he was pretty hands-on, but i really wonder how deep he gets as far as contributing to the actual arrangement and programming on it (and the radiohead stuff).

Jordan, Wednesday, 23 January 2008 16:29 (eighteen years ago)

the bends, showcasing that i don't spend much time on ILM, really. sorry!

darraghmac, Wednesday, 23 January 2008 16:50 (eighteen years ago)

anyway, i voted kid a.

Mark Clemente, Wednesday, 23 January 2008 17:02 (eighteen years ago)

his work on the mccartney album is excellent. I think what shows there is not so much just his skill at sound crafting, but help in arranging and overall aesthetic influence. that said, kid a still wins

akm, Wednesday, 23 January 2008 17:15 (eighteen years ago)

Not a single great album on the list, at least out of the ones I've heard, so I voted for "The Man Who", which at least has a few singles that I like.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Wednesday, 23 January 2008 18:07 (eighteen years ago)

yea those travis records are dreadful, aren't they?

No, they are all excellent. But still not up there with "OK Computer" obv.

Geir Hongro, Wednesday, 23 January 2008 20:54 (eighteen years ago)

silver sun

electricsound, Wednesday, 23 January 2008 22:20 (eighteen years ago)

Jason Falkner's Can You Still Feel?, which, as has unfortunately been the case with lots of Geir polls, not a choice here.

So, OK Computer, I guess, not that it needs another vote.

Naive Teen Idol, Thursday, 24 January 2008 03:27 (eighteen years ago)

shoulda chose mutations

He is just credited as engineer on that one.

ILX System, Saturday, 2 February 2008 00:01 (eighteen years ago)

I can dig this (although a bit shocked at the Radiohead rout), although the correct answer is Talking Walkie.

/runs and hides

Davey D, Sunday, 3 February 2008 04:04 (eighteen years ago)

Talkie, rather, tho when I get around to that Stevie Wonder/Air mashup, that'll come in handy

Davey D, Sunday, 3 February 2008 04:04 (eighteen years ago)

i voted for mutations

ciderpress, Sunday, 3 February 2008 04:05 (eighteen years ago)

davey, i voted for talkie walkie so you didn't vote!

abanana, Sunday, 3 February 2008 05:51 (eighteen years ago)

It's true, I didn't see this poll until too late for some reason.

Davey D, Sunday, 3 February 2008 16:57 (eighteen years ago)
