Yazoo = Classic

Cool.
― Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 23 January 2008 16:11 (eighteen years ago)
Contents of the box:
* Stereo remasters & 5.1 mixes of the classic albums Upstairs At Eric's and You And Me Both * B-Sides & Remixes * DVD featuring an exclusive short film with new interviews from Vince Clarke and Alison Moyet and the videos for Don't Go, The Other Side Of Love, Nobody's Diary, Situation (1990) and Only You (1999)
Kinda makes sense as something for Mute to do after the Depeche remasters; I figure the two albums have been steady sellers all these years.

T/S: Situation vs Don't Go
― The Macallan 18 Year, Wednesday, 23 January 2008 17:36 (eighteen years ago)
I've had Upstairs at Eric's spinnin in circles on my mp3 for the last few days. This is nice
― I know, right?, Wednesday, 23 January 2008 20:20 (eighteen years ago)
TS: Upstairs vs. You And Me
That's a hard one!
I'm totally on this box set!
― Mackro Mackro, Wednesday, 23 January 2008 20:39 (eighteen years ago)
Good news. Does this mean we'll soon get remasters and 5:1 mixes of Erasure too?
― Geir Hongro, Wednesday, 23 January 2008 20:42 (eighteen years ago)
GET. THE. FUCK. IN.
and they're opening the tour in glasgow!
*JOY*

Alison performed both "Only You" and "Don't Go" in Nottingham last night, and made the Yazoo-reformation announcement to wild acclaim. I am happy to report that vocally, she has never sounded better. This should be quite something.

:D

You just want to make something real.. like a Yaz record
― Mackro Mackro, Thursday, 24 January 2008 17:13 (eighteen years ago)
(sorry, the quote was inevitable)
Wow. Did NOT predict that this would ever happen.
How's Andy Bell's health, meanwhile?
― Alex in NYC, Thursday, 24 January 2008 19:24 (eighteen years ago)
I heard an interview with him a couple of months ago and he said he was doing well.
― Gnomic Huckabee, Thursday, 24 January 2008 19:50 (eighteen years ago)
Wonder what the tracklisting for the b-sides and remix disc will be?
Alison Moyet is still fucking hot.
― Gnomic Huckabee, Thursday, 24 January 2008 20:32 (eighteen years ago)
hang on, hang on. £45 a ticket for the SECC? get to FUCK.
i'll see if i can blag press tickets, but ... i'm almost loath to do that, to be honest. FORTY-FIVE FUCKING QUID?
― grimly fiendish, Friday, 1 February 2008 11:47 (eighteen years ago)
well it's cheaper than chris rock at the 02 in may
― Tracer Hand, Friday, 1 February 2008 12:18 (eighteen years ago)
Dug out Upstairs at Eric's in the wake of the news. At the risk of felching that which is so obvious that it's positively obscene, it's still entirely brilliant.
― Alex in NYC, Friday, 1 February 2008 13:14 (eighteen years ago)
I listened to both albums for the same reason and think they're both amazing.
Ironically, off to the sale pile they go, since they'll be replaced.
― Mackro Mackro, Friday, 1 February 2008 16:51 (eighteen years ago)
Ha, was thinking the same thing.
― Ned Raggett, Friday, 1 February 2008 16:58 (eighteen years ago)
grimly, there's more than one price category. at ticketmaster they only sell 45 pound tickets, but at live nation there's 35, 40 and 45
― StanM, Friday, 1 February 2008 17:03 (eighteen years ago)
oh! nice one, stan -- i'd tried a couple of places (including livenation, although that was presale, right enough) and 45 was the cheapest. i'll look again.
― grimly fiendish, Friday, 1 February 2008 17:13 (eighteen years ago)
Don't know how far from the stage you'll be sitting though. :-(
― StanM, Friday, 1 February 2008 17:26 (eighteen years ago)
gigsandtours . com only have 51 pound tickets. shopping around pays off :-)
― StanM, Friday, 1 February 2008 17:30 (eighteen years ago)
There's a cool BBC recording of Yazoo live in '82 (?) floating around the blog(sp0t)osphere
― Capitaine Jay Vee, Friday, 1 February 2008 18:14 (eighteen years ago)
It's on youtube too (search yazoo and bbc) but that's from someone who put the (radio) recording next to a yazoo picture slideshow.
― StanM, Friday, 1 February 2008 18:28 (eighteen years ago)
Anyone who knows what kind of tracklisting will be used in the new version? "Upstairs At Eric's" has had some 3 or 4 different tracklistings if you count North American and European editions.
― Geir Hongro, Friday, 1 February 2008 20:49 (eighteen years ago)
"YAZOO have added a second London show to their forthcoming reunion tour and will now play a second show at the Hammersmith Apollo on June 19th."
― StanM, Thursday, 14 February 2008 14:01 (eighteen years ago)
LA presale begins in two hours for July 10/11 at the Orpheum. Probably go for the 11th, but I'll want to see the ticket prices first.
― Ned Raggett, Thursday, 6 March 2008 15:53 (seventeen years ago)
Direct Ticketmaster link:
http://www.ticketmaster.com/artist/1202353
Cheapest price $52. Typical.
They've also added some extra UK dates; the pre-sale's at artistticket.com. A friend of mine got front row tix for the Nottingham date this morning...
― mike t-diva, Thursday, 6 March 2008 16:20 (seventeen years ago)
NY ticket is $65 (only option).
