Hit songs with incredibly jarring and inexplicable production flourishes

Inspired by "Blinded By The Light"'s numerous AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL fades which drop the hook out of the picture just as you're really getting into it, in an extremely abrupt and clumsy fashion. What is up with that? I thought it was just the radio edit cutting stuff out but I'm now listening to a much much longer version and all the jumps are still there!
