Me, I cannot say I love anything in the top 100 (love is a strong word), but "Love Beach", "Tonight", "Cut The Crap", "Knocked Out Loaded" and even the Britney and Backstreet Boys ones all have their moments as far as single tracks go.

Out of the next 100, "Calling All Stations" and "Fantastic" are both pretty good, but I wouldn't use the word "love" in the case of those either.

The best ranked album that isn't only good but actually great is probably "Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants". The 421st worst ranked album at RYM is actually my second favourite Oasis album, and was IMO one of the very best albums of 2000.

Great thread.

There's nothing in the top 1000 that I unabashedly love, but I really like Britney Spears's Blackout (#342), Air's Pocket Symphony (#704), and Justin Timberlake's Justified (#982).

54 velvet underground : squeeze is always vastly underrated. As long as you think of it as Doug Yule's solo album, its actually pretty good.

haven't looked at the list but just from those three there i haven't heard the britney but have strong crushes at least on the other two. pocket symphony is lovely.

xp

actually just looked at that list and it's even more pointless than you'd imagine.

Sepultura Against gets a bad rap. I like a lot of songs on that record.

The new Hot Chip is #282, hopefully it's better than the ones around it.

Billy Dods, Thursday, 24 January 2008 22:32 (eighteen years ago)

The lowest album I really like is "With Lasers" (Bonde Do Role) at #372, next is "Leisure" (Blur) at #870, "99 Cents" (Chicks On Speed) at #915, "This Is What You Want... This Is What You Get" (P.I.L.) at #924. But none of the mentioned albums I LOVE.

Theres nothing wrong with Squeeze. It gets bashed because it's the safe thing to do, and it shows you know who isn't on it.

Does the rateyourmusic.com community consist of 20 people, 4 of them being employees at Other Music? Because that's how you'd get a list like this.

I really think that A Fever You Can't Sweat Out (648 IIRC) is a great, unique album. I listen to it all the time. There are probably others I'd like but the list has really made me realize how much music I haven't heard.

Sundar, Thursday, 24 January 2008 23:11 (eighteen years ago)

(Um, not that I thought I'd heard everything before or anything.)

I think I can say I love the first Chili Peppers album (274).

Rock Hardy, Saturday, 26 January 2008 03:31 (eighteen years ago)

I was going to post "Movement", but was pleasantly surprised to find it with a respectable 3.59.

The Futureheads' "News and Tributes" is sadly underrated, I think — I really loved that album for a long while.

RYM apparently hates fun '90s pop.

babyalive, Saturday, 26 January 2008 08:36 (eighteen years ago)

RYM hates bad 90s pop. No problem about that. RYM loves extreme metal though, which is the main problem about RYM.

The Spaghetti Incident? -- but also pretty fond of the Beach Boys' 15 Big Ones.

three years pass...

Lowest artist I own anything by: 297 - Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, "The Effects Of 333". I don't own this release, never even heard of it.

Lowest album I've heard: 461 - The Finger, "We Are Fuck You". I downloaded this eons ago just to check it out. Feh!

Lowest album that I have tracks from on another compilation: 564 - Gang Of Four, "Mall". I kinda like "F.M.U.S.A.".

Lowest album I own: 1328 - Gang Of Four, "Content". Wish I could say I disagreed, but this was an incredible disappointment. Far from the worst thing I've ever owned, though.

What can I say, I'm a bit bored tonight.
