― Zeno, Monday, 28 January 2008 13:28 (eighteen years ago)
the cover: commercial for anti aging?
― Zeno, Monday, 28 January 2008 13:31 (eighteen years ago)
Yes, definitely curious although I know it will end in tears.
― baaderonixx, Monday, 28 January 2008 13:35 (eighteen years ago)
probably.who is the producer?
― Zeno, Monday, 28 January 2008 13:36 (eighteen years ago)

and also http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Osborne (Happy Mondays etc)

Yikes
― Alex in NYC, Monday, 28 January 2008 13:42 (eighteen years ago)
Why are the boys dressed like Kevin DuBrow circa 1983?
― Alex in NYC, Monday, 28 January 2008 13:43 (eighteen years ago)
The last I heard of them were the two new songs they recorder for that compilation that came out 4-5 years ago. Generic to say the least.
― baaderonixx, Monday, 28 January 2008 13:51 (eighteen years ago)
Guitarist Keith Strickland was inspired to create an updated sound for the band when listening to the New Order album Get Ready and hired producer Steve Osborne as a result. A more modern use of electronica production is the most distinct mark of the band's new sound.

dude that was TEN YEARS AGO. also "Hallucinating Pluto" was kind of awesome and had a great Fred Schneider freakout.
― Alex in Baltimore, Monday, 28 January 2008 13:56 (eighteen years ago)
Yes, I stand corrected, fuuny how times flies, eh?
― baaderonixx, Monday, 28 January 2008 14:01 (eighteen years ago)
I predict that people will say it sucks at first and then a couple of years later everybody'll be like "that thing had several solid jams on it"
― J0hn D., Monday, 28 January 2008 14:06 (eighteen years ago)
if (big if) they still have the skills for good songwriting, maybe
― Zeno, Monday, 28 January 2008 14:08 (eighteen years ago)
I own Good Stuff, so I'd be crazy not to buy this and give it a fair shot.
― Alex in Baltimore, Monday, 28 January 2008 14:08 (eighteen years ago)
is it gonna beat the Bauhaus reunion album?
― baaderonixx, Monday, 28 January 2008 14:09 (eighteen years ago)
is that cindy wilson? is julee cruise out now? (i can't imagine anyone caring about the b52s w/out wilson frankly). maybe this will be alright but the world really doesn't need another b52s album; it really only needs the first two
― akm, Monday, 28 January 2008 14:38 (eighteen years ago)
The best thing the B-52's have been involved with for years was this
Junior Senior - Take My Time
Still no UK release :-(
― cheasyweasel, Monday, 28 January 2008 14:46 (eighteen years ago)
I liked that "Funplex" clip, but it sounds basically like I thought it would: some safe middle ground between "Love Shack" and "Roam." What I would love is a return to the sparse sound of the first LP, but that's never gonna happen.
― Dan Peterson, Monday, 28 January 2008 15:00 (eighteen years ago)
Ooh a lot of ageism on this thread. I hope some of you remember it if you're lucky enough to hit 59.
― Kevin John Bozelka, Monday, 28 January 2008 15:05 (eighteen years ago)
Sure, but I'm going to look like someone who's 59.
― StanM, Monday, 28 January 2008 15:16 (eighteen years ago)

That clip is actually pretty good and has some hit potential. But is the world ready for a B52s hit in 2008?
― baaderonixx, Monday, 28 January 2008 15:23 (eighteen years ago)
That would be a great 'Funplex' cover
― baaderonixx, Monday, 28 January 2008 15:24 (eighteen years ago)
better (and punkier) version of 'Funplex'
― baaderonixx, Monday, 28 January 2008 15:29 (eighteen years ago)
single (title track) has leaked
― baaderonixx, Sunday, 10 February 2008 16:33 (eighteen years ago)
hmm...i don't like the production; wish it was fiercer

my fave '2s tune (with alt brit-friendly lyrics!)
― pisces, Saturday, 23 February 2008 12:35 (eighteen years ago)
leaked? didn't the promo come out a month ago or something?
― da croupier, Saturday, 23 February 2008 16:22 (eighteen years ago)
I haven't gotten around to listening to it (my housemate got it) but, despite them being watermarked or whatever I figured some must of got out there.
― da croupier, Saturday, 23 February 2008 16:23 (eighteen years ago)
So what's the verdict?
― baaderonixx, Monday, 31 March 2008 07:49 (seventeen years ago)
I WANNA KNOW
― Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Monday, 7 April 2008 21:38 (seventeen years ago)
it's alright. The Killers sounding songs are the best. "Love In The Year 3000" is probably the best song.
The biggest bummer is Fred sounds just leery and nothing more. :(
― Mackro Mackro, Monday, 7 April 2008 22:33 (seventeen years ago)
I mean I know Fred's not the same Fred that screamed "LET'S ROOOOOOOOOCK" in "Rock Lobster"... but Fred rocked on the Just Fred album most recently. That was even a decade ago, tho. :/
― Mackro Mackro, Monday, 7 April 2008 22:36 (seventeen years ago)
I am liking this so far! Both tracks I have tried out for radio play (title track and "Hot Corner") have been MUCH better than I expected.
― sleeve, Monday, 7 April 2008 23:41 (seventeen years ago)
quality of B-52s in general rises and falls with the quality of Fredness on each album... haven't heard this yet
― Shakey Mo Collier, Monday, 7 April 2008 23:44 (seventeen years ago)
"Eyes Wide Open" has a killer riff. It sounds great on my iPod next to Hercules and Love Affair stuff.
― Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Monday, 7 April 2008 23:51 (seventeen years ago)
Not bad, but not many remarkable tunes either :(((((((((
― zeus, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 11:45 (seventeen years ago)
the thing about the B-52s is that when they delivered "Cosmic Thing" they had no business being able to come up with a totally classic album that long after their initial success so hope springs eternal that they're gonna pull off a late-career miracle but I dunno.
― J0hn D., Tuesday, 8 April 2008 13:25 (seventeen years ago)
I admire the fact they didn't try to sound too much like a caricature of themselves and went for a pretty modern sound, without being flashy about it, but it's true that the hi-gloss polished sound makes the whole affair a bit bland. I haven't spent much time with it so could well change my mind.
― baaderonixx, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 13:31 (seventeen years ago)
"Eyes Wide Open" is FANTASTIC!
― Tracer Hand, Friday, 16 May 2008 09:54 (seventeen years ago)
I'm listening to this album for the first time and it sounds really great
