Winston, you are probably right, but there's a few not-so-obvious ones that sound like they would stand strong on their own (without the hiss that plagues these tapes).

But I gotta say that I'm not totally feeling those Cosmic Rock 12"s on Eskimo though.

Did anyone else really like that Baldelli and Dionogi mix, "Cosmic Disco and Cosmic Rock " ? I picked it up and I am really feeling it. It has more of a new/wave synth approach at the beginning and gets more disco as it goes along.

i like it ... better than either "baia degli angeli vol 1" or "cosmic - the original" ... but not as much as his "cosmic sound" album

Anyone seen baldelli recently? he's playing near me in a couple of weeks time at traditional-style pub!

check out the leonardo thread for a bunch of cosmic tapes, though only a few are by baldelli and only a couple are from the 'cosmic' series, i believe.

and i found this word-document containing a bunch of the tracklistings for baldelli's cosmic tape series on the djhistory forums not long ago

also it can be pretty frustrating when you're listening to an awesome tape and then you realize it's side one and you don't have side two. it all ends so abruptly!

There's a torrent going around with 3gb of these tapes. I think it's called Tapes. Should be easy to find.

what's the crazy, hissy, wooshy effect he puts on almost every other beat in his mixes? is it an eq thing?

is it not just a byproduct of this stuff being transferred from tapes?

i assumed it was both? him messin' with the eq + 10,000th gen cassette = whooooosh

I never listened to "Cosmic Disco? Cosmic Rock!" until last week, but I love it.

The selection of these tunes feels so purposeful. A different kind of purposeful to the camp affect of the disco-rock tunes that I typically associate with the beardo revival - the emphasis is so much on these weird pseudo-new wave counter-rhythms that weave in and out of the main beat, even though the music remains very populist.

Weirdly I met marc0 di0nigi once - actually hung out in his basement studio - but at the time I had no idea who he was. Was on our honeymoon in Verona - his mum is somehow related to my wife so we just dropped into their house to say hi. Kind of kicking myself now for being such such a corny indie ignoramus, remember being very impressed by the girth of his lol hueg wall of records though

Yeah "Better Be Good To Me" sounds amazing in this mix. Makes me wonder if there's a grunty sped-up disco edit of "Bette Davis Eyes".

I also super-love the track (I momentarily forget which one) that sounds like the inspiration for the Smith N Hack remix of "Moving Like A Train".

Playing his "Etno Cosmic" mix right now, it's so good, even the Tears for Fears instrumental works well. Should try to get my old hard drive with all these mixes on it working again....
