Portly bass player from Richmond Fontaine leaping about like he's in Minor Threat to a song that makes john Denver (RIP) sound like Seige.

I can't think of anything less appropriate done on stage.

Awful bar band last night, singer did this weird Liam Gallagher drawl on every song. And every time there was an instrumental break, he'd do these gormless Richard Ashcroft style ad-libs: "Oh oh yeah, yeah, yeeeaaaahh! Can you FEEL the music?" Fella was about 35 as well, not some soft kid.

I take it you're from the east side o' the Atlantic? Is it true that RF are quite a popular band over there? They seem to be much more successful overseas than back home in Portland and elsewhere.

I once saw this band of 17-18 year old kids named Cerberos and they had black metal corpsepaint on, but they played terrible, fifth-tier punk rock (not like the cool mix of black metal punk that is Impaled Nazarene).
They were leaping around, but the audience largely sat down, indian-style, on the floor, bored.
The frontman, clearly upset by this, got up and said, in his most blithe attempt at a black metal voice, "YOU ALL NEED TO START MOSHING....OR I'LL KILL YOUUUUU"...but he sounded like Beavis.
Then, their last song began as a rap tune and then for no reason launched back into black metal/punk, never to return to rap.

Any stage Chris De Burgh gets onto with the intention of singing.

huh. the last truly amazingly inappropriate band i saw was Monotonix when they opened for Old Time Relijun here in Ohio. unless you've seen them live, it's kind of hard to describe. all i can say is there was lots of nudity, broken class, popcorn and potato chips and beer and spittle all over everyone, sweat everywhere.... Old Time Relijun seemed like a bunch of pansies by comparison.

yes ,I'm from Hull, England and saw RF at the New Roscoe in leeds about a year ago. A real fitting venue for them. The place has real soul, excellent acoustics with a proper bar and jukebox .
They started with 'The Ghost I became' and my jaw hit the floor. It was so much better than the recorded version. I think your friend may have 'lost it' during 'Four Walls'? . Like I say it was a top effort. Tell him to incorporate break dancing next time;-)
They all seemed like super nice blokes? Willy was selling his book after the show. I made some lame drunken joke which I regret but not sure he heard my slur anyway. It's a good read.
I think they returned to same venue last October but I missed it

Why have all the guys pissed their trousers? Is that Androcles Allin - GG's Greek cousin?

Just followed your link to their myspace page. They fucking rock. Gotta see them live?

For his first ever show in the UK, Sparxxx arrives looking more like a bouncer than a rap superstar, in a shiny matching tracksuit that David Icke probably wouldn't be seen dead in. With the help of a hyperactive sidekick, the rapper incoherently bellows out a couple of tracks from his debut album Dark Days, Bright Nights, but within five minutes he's off. Before disappearing, he announces he has to "go take a dump", adding defiantly, "And I ain't even gonna wipe my ass!" Nice.To pass the time, the attendant DJ indulges in a lengthy scratching session – hip-hop's answer to the guitar solo – while his rapping cohort concentrates on revving up the crowd. Sparxxx eventually returns with his tracksuit bottoms at half- mast and wiggling his abundant, naked behind – trust me, it's not a pretty sight. Finally, he launches into his one and only hit, the jittery, Missy Elliot-sampling "Ugly". But then he's gone again and, before you can say "Where's the fire?", the lights are up and we're being herded out of the building.
