Journeys by DJ: Billy Nasty Mix

Kevin John Bozelka, Sunday, 3 February 2008 18:39 (seventeen years ago)

Vapourspace - Themes from Vapourspace
Vladislav Delay - Anima
Pharoah Sanders - Black Unity

The latter two are "real" one-track albums, meaning that they actually have just one long tune instead of several tunes mixed/sequenced into one track.

girl talk- night ripper
the-dream- love/hate

J0rdan S., Sunday, 3 February 2008 18:42 (seventeen years ago)

Corrupted - Paso Inferior
Corrupted - El Mundo Frio

Herman G. Neuname, Sunday, 3 February 2008 18:47 (seventeen years ago)

I think Lovesexy is an especially irritating example of making several tunes into one track, because I don't see any artistic reason for that. The songs are quite different and don't comprise a whole or anything, and the segues that are supposed to tie them together fell kinda artificial. There's even a silence between what would be side A and B on the vinyl, so maybe the CD could have had at least one break there.

Tuomas, Sunday, 3 February 2008 18:47 (seventeen years ago)

Juno Reactor - Luciana

Tuomas, Sunday, 3 February 2008 18:48 (seventeen years ago)

I agree re: Lovesexy, it's just annoying.

stephen, Sunday, 3 February 2008 18:49 (seventeen years ago)

Yeah, Prince being really precious. How dare we skip through any of his genius music!

Bodrick III, Sunday, 3 February 2008 18:52 (seventeen years ago)

My favoritest:

Merzbow/Pan Sonic - V

Rock Hardy, Sunday, 3 February 2008 18:53 (seventeen years ago)

I've got a Blast First CD called Nothing Short Of Total War, which is something like 20 songs - Big Black, Band of Susans, Big Stick, Rapeman - and it's just one track, no breaks, no gaps, about 50 minutes long.

nate woolls, Sunday, 3 February 2008 18:55 (seventeen years ago)

Edge of Sanity - Crimson
Francisco López - Untitled #104
Green carnation - Light of Day, Day of Darkness
Sleep - Jerusalem
Wyrd - Heathen

no-nonsense, Sunday, 3 February 2008 20:02 (seventeen years ago)

Mike Oldfield: Amarok. It's all the same "song" though.

Geir Hongro, Sunday, 3 February 2008 20:03 (seventeen years ago)

Acid Mothers Temple & The Melting Paraiso U.F.O. - Nam Myo Ho Ren Ge Kyo

Curt1s Stephens, Sunday, 3 February 2008 20:12 (seventeen years ago)

Devil Doll - The Girl Who Was Death
Devil Doll - Sacrilegium
Their "Dies Irae" is one composition as well, but it's divided into a number of tracks.

Was EoS's "Crimson pt 2" one track as well? I never bothered to check it out.

Øystein, Sunday, 3 February 2008 20:22 (seventeen years ago)

Sleep - Jerusalem

I seem to recall my CD copy of Jerusalem being broken up into five or six tracks...

stephen, Sunday, 3 February 2008 20:29 (seventeen years ago)

I think there are several versions of Jerusalem, some of which come as one long track. I own the Dopesmoker re-release, which also has the whole song in one track but doesn't qualify because of a bonus live song in track #2.

no-nonsense, Sunday, 3 February 2008 20:35 (seventeen years ago)

D Generation - Satanic Sketches
TISM - 2pot Screama (a rock opera in one act)

Autumn Almanac, Sunday, 3 February 2008 21:27 (seventeen years ago)

William Basinski has released a whole bunch of 1-track cds.

Noodle Vague, Sunday, 3 February 2008 21:30 (seventeen years ago)

Paul Schütze - Deus Ex Machina

W4LTER, Monday, 4 February 2008 00:15 (seventeen years ago)

Sleep - Jerusalem, is several tracks.

But, Sleep - Dopesmoker, is only one. It's the same song I think...maybe slightly longer.

My Husker Du Land Speed Record CD is 2 tracks, 1 for each side of the vinyl.

Colonel Poo, Monday, 4 February 2008 10:19 (seventeen years ago)

LCD Soundsystem, 45:33

ok the cd version is split into six tracks, wtf. plus an extra three bonus tracks.

ledge, Monday, 4 February 2008 10:24 (seventeen years ago)

Ok, I've got a slightly off-topic question: is there a way of adding breaks to a single track in iTunes? I've downloaded podcasts in the past which have been about an hour long, but they're divided into sections that you can skip to - that's the kind of thing I want to do. At the moment I'm splitting long tracks down using Audacity.

nate woolls, Monday, 4 February 2008 10:31 (seventeen years ago)

Jim O'Rourke - Happy Days
Eugene Chadbourne Chadbourne Baptist Church

bamcquern, Monday, 4 February 2008 12:14 (seventeen years ago)

merzbow/giffoni/o'rourke - electric dress

ricardo villalobos - fizheuer ziheuer
stephen mathieu - on tape
steve reich - music for 18 musicians
john coltrane - ascension
john coltrane - om

i feel like there's an art ensemble of chicago album or two that has only one track.

doesn't klaus schulze have some like 55-minute tracks that comprise the entire album?

Mark Clemente, Monday, 4 February 2008 15:14 (seventeen years ago)

LaMonte Young - The Second Dream of the High-Tension Line Stepdown Transformer
Morton Feldman - Three Voices (For Joan LaBarbara) (I forget - this might have track indexes for different sections but it's all one piece without breaks)

o. nate, Monday, 4 February 2008 16:02 (seventeen years ago)

LaMonte Young - The Second Dream of the High-Tension Line Stepdown Transformer

His Just Stompin': Live At The Kitchen is one track split between two CDs. (And Well-Tuned Piano is presumably 5 or 6 discs.)

Myonga Vön Bontee, Monday, 4 February 2008 16:12 (seventeen years ago)

I thought of Klaus also...but I am pretty sure there is no one tracked release, there are many many 2 tracked ones.

our work is never over, Monday, 4 February 2008 16:14 (seventeen years ago)

Orthrelm - OV

Dominique, Monday, 4 February 2008 16:18 (seventeen years ago)

john coltrane - om

Oddly enough, the first CD issue of this had two distinct tracks, mimicking the LPs side-one fade-out and side-two fade-in.

Sara Sara Sara, Monday, 4 February 2008 16:23 (seventeen years ago)

Manuel Gottsching - E2-E4

Gavin in Leeds, Monday, 4 February 2008 18:40 (seventeen years ago)
