okay...

The Brainwasher, Monday, 4 February 2008 16:11 (seventeen years ago)

YEAAHH! Even though I liked Daft Punk's song, I didn't think that they could get that funky alone. They had to have some help along the way. thanks again tek for posting this.

ledge, Monday, 4 February 2008 16:15 (seventeen years ago)

I likw this one as well it shows whho "edwin birdsong" is.

ledge, Monday, 4 February 2008 16:15 (seventeen years ago)

Not only did Daft Punk sample this song, but a snippet was also sampled for the theme song for "Beverly Hills 90210" (listen at about 0:40 and 2:12

ledge, Monday, 4 February 2008 16:15 (seventeen years ago)

hahaha aha a aha a ahaha a ahh

ledge, Monday, 4 February 2008 16:15 (seventeen years ago)

Edwin Birdsong - Daft Punk - Kanye West.

ledge, Monday, 4 February 2008 16:16 (seventeen years ago)

He really looks like he is smoking, but i see no cigar.

ledge, Monday, 4 February 2008 16:16 (seventeen years ago)

Daft x Kanye x Birdsong

ledge, Monday, 4 February 2008 16:16 (seventeen years ago)

ledge, Monday, 4 February 2008 16:16 (seventeen years ago)

Wow, what a bunch of uninventive assholes. Seriously, such an awesome song that they stole (or purchased)

ledge, Monday, 4 February 2008 16:16 (seventeen years ago)

you guys do know that edwin birdsong helped write harder better faster stronger. He was one of the writes of 4

ledge, Monday, 4 February 2008 16:16 (seventeen years ago)

no he didnt

harder better faster stronger was just sampled by daft punk

then sampled by kanye

but daft punks intent wasnt to go big

they were a "garage band"

kanye was already big and he did it regardless

ledge, Monday, 4 February 2008 16:17 (seventeen years ago)

I was amazed when I heard this.
He should have more credit for HBFS.
Oh, that picture is amazing too.

our work is never over, Monday, 4 February 2008 16:17 (seventeen years ago)

what the ****? omg! you got a point dude!... i din´t know that!

ledge, Monday, 4 February 2008 16:17 (seventeen years ago)

daft punk are DJ's. Sampling music is what they do

ledge, Monday, 4 February 2008 16:17 (seventeen years ago)

another classic song that is worth playing to the younger generations. show us where our roots are. thank you for uploading this.

ledge, Monday, 4 February 2008 16:17 (seventeen years ago)

You know I thought this was going to be a Chico "It's Chico Time" Slimani thread...

snoball, Monday, 4 February 2008 16:20 (seventeen years ago)

^ I genuinely agree with all the above and every single other comment posted at that youtube link.

And every other post anyone makes to this thread.

ledge, Monday, 4 February 2008 16:21 (seventeen years ago)

this song is great altho it feels v frontloaded in itself, goes on a bit too long without enough variation towards the end

can't believe how dumb kids are re the 'omg daft punk are such fraudsters' thing

blueski, Monday, 4 February 2008 16:44 (seventeen years ago)

Not only did Daft Punk sample this song, but a snippet was also sampled for the theme song for "Beverly Hills 90210" (listen at about 0:40 and 2:12

so in turn Nine Inch Nails borrowed from the 90210 theme for the 'Only' hook lol

can't believe how dumb kids are re the 'omg daft punk are such fraudsters' thing

Don't you get a shock when hear the original of something that you didn't even realise used a sample? My rockist tendencies are always hardest to suppress on such occasions - especially when the sample seems so blatant, as in this case.

ledge, Monday, 4 February 2008 16:56 (seventeen years ago)

I would think that practically everything is stolen from something else.

our work is never over, Monday, 4 February 2008 17:00 (seventeen years ago)

I wouldn't. Certainly not intentionally. And there are varying distances between source and result.

Ugh, can of worms. Should've stuck to pasting comments.

ledge, Monday, 4 February 2008 17:03 (seventeen years ago)

maybe you should listen to classic music more often, cause thanks to my parents and other family members, the songs that come out now a day suck to me cause i know where they all come from and just cause theyre "new" versions doesnt make them better .

ps. daft punk are djs, sampling is what they do (Djs)

ledge, Monday, 4 February 2008 17:04 (seventeen years ago)

oi, check out 2:55-6, DP took those 2 seconds for the beginning of their song. I get so excited when I think about the limitless possibilities presented through sampling!

ledge, Monday, 4 February 2008 17:05 (seventeen years ago)

wow they str8 up looped it didnt even change the drums..wack...originals are 75% of the time better except when dudes like j dilla remake them he's the best sampling producer of all time

ledge, Monday, 4 February 2008 17:05 (seventeen years ago)

HA HA! I laugh at the picture of the guy at the beginning of the video. It's just funny with the music and how it starts. LOL!

ledge, Monday, 4 February 2008 17:06 (seventeen years ago)

please...explain me what´s the meaning of "STEAL". Daft Punk are thiefs!! Their song is exactly the same!

ledge, Monday, 4 February 2008 17:06 (seventeen years ago)

They didn't steal it because they used a sample and gave the credit for the original song to the original artist. They didn't use the whole song, and they changed many things about it.

ledge, Monday, 4 February 2008 17:07 (seventeen years ago)

i dig it........great discussion :)
SAMPLEs BRING life to vaulted songs
but samples can never replace or be HARDER then what some artist played from the heart...

ledge, Monday, 4 February 2008 17:07 (seventeen years ago)

Don't you get a shock when hear the original of something that you didn't even realise used a sample?

sometimes of course but i don't get why people would come to Daft Punk without some reasonable expectation of there being blatant sampling. then again the same is true of Groove Armada but when i heard the track they sampled for 'Song 4 Mutya' i did have a similar 'the audacity!' reaction.

blueski, Monday, 4 February 2008 17:08 (seventeen years ago)

chaki, Monday, 4 February 2008 17:11 (seventeen years ago)

Well, I remember hearing Rick James' "Superfreak" some years after MC Hammer's "version"

Failing that, play "Leaves that are Green" Simon & Garfunkel to a Billy Bragg fan...

Mark G, Monday, 4 February 2008 17:13 (seventeen years ago)

song4mutya o no! is it the human-league-style synthy bit?

xp. chillax bro. xp.

ledge, Monday, 4 February 2008 17:13 (seventeen years ago)
