What's the best track on "1999"

This album is all about the singles to me. Voted "Little Red Corvette".

I'm really tempted to vote for one of the freakier tunes near the end, but then again "Let's Pretend We're Married" is probably my favourite early Prince tune alongside "Controversy". The only tunes I wouldn't at least consider to vote are "Delirious" and "International Lover". The former is good song actually, but I find the synth sound on it quite irritating. The latter is really the only mediocre tune here - it's just autotune Prince without any interesting ideas. Without it 1999 would be a flawless album, I think.

I always try to avoid voting for singles in these polls, so "Something in the Water (Does Not Compute)."

yeah 'something in the water...' by a country mile. i don't think he ever did the 0-60 in 2 seconds *scream* better on any other track.

"Free" is one of his more underrated power ballads.

"Something In The Water" is my fave non-single here, but "Little Red Corvette" is one of my all-time favourite Prince tracks, so it was impossible to ignore.

I'm going to have to go back to this one. I just bought this recently and keep meaning to hear the whole thing but for some reason I end up quitting in the middle every time. I remember "Free" being notable, though.

Okay I figured out my problem with this album now. I start to get REALLY bored when Automatic comes on. I mean that is a snoozeville. If I can just get past that song, things get really fascinating from there on.

Wait - Alfred was right upthread. Free is it. Oh yeah.

At least until Lady Cab Driver funks us up right.

I can't stop thinking about the sudden switch from drum machines to loud n' funky realdrums for "Lady Cab Driver"; they take over the whole damn track, it's so cool

the curse of this album is that even though it's one of the weaker tracks, "delirious" is capable of getting stuck in your head for weeks on ends, ruining one or more social relationships in the process

for me it's "DANCE! MUSIC! SEX! ROMANCE!" *weep wop woo do doo*

"Delirious" is my least favorite of this period's singles but, still, it needed a vote.

I think I like "Let's Work" marginally less, but yeah.

It's probably my favourite Prince record right now, too. Up until now, I would have said Sign O' The Times was easily the superior double album, but after finding myself spinning this endlessly over the last couple of days, I'm not so sure.
