I have fond memories of teaching Amber and ALice the dance moves for "Keep on moving", to which Amber (5 then) turned round and said "You can actually do this, can't you?"

(FWIW, I was never in a boyband, alright?)

I thought you meant UK boy band 5ive too. I was momentarily baffled.

That is a constant worry to me, Herman.

There's a theme park somewhere that has a permanent exhibit where you can play parts of "Let's Dance" by breaking light beams and standing on contact points. The booth is in total darkness apart from disco beams. Might be IOWight, but I don't know.

Kid 606 vs The Boy Band 5ive split could be amusing I suppose.

Herman G. Neuname, Tuesday, 5 February 2008 17:26 (eighteen years ago)

New album is great btw.

Hesperus, 5ive’s full-length LP, prods and provokes the
listener to ascend through a modulated mind muddle, in attempts to
exhume the brimming melodic crest slumbering beneath a cyclic miasma
of transformative sound. Ben Carr (Guitars) and Charlie Harrold
(Drums) after seven years of relative anonymity, have graced us again
with both their presence and a picture perfect record, which serves as
a frame worthy summation of the band’s past impressions and conceptual
progression. Produced by Grammy nominee Andrew Schneider (Cave In,
Daughters, Scissorfight), these seven tracks will send you silently
swaying into a somnambulant state and then abandon you still stirring
and stark naked in a roomful of uncomfortable silence.

Track Listing:

1. Gulls (4:09)
2. Big Sea (7:30)
3. Kettle Cove (2:50)
4. Heel (2:08)
5. Polar 78 (7:25)
6. News I (8:31)
7. News II (12:14)

Herman G. Neuname, Tuesday, 5 February 2008 19:42 (eighteen years ago)

Got it in yesterday's mail but am way too busy listening to technical death metal to bother for the moment. Will get to it by month's end.

unperson, Tuesday, 5 February 2008 19:47 (eighteen years ago)

It's definitely not technical death metal hehe

Herman G. Neuname, Tuesday, 5 February 2008 20:39 (eighteen years ago)

Herman G. Neuname, Tuesday, 5 February 2008 22:11 (eighteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

ILX System, Monday, 11 February 2008 00:01 (eighteen years ago)

This thread serves to remind me of how great the two that I do have are and that I really should track down all of the ones that I'm missing.

krakow, Monday, 11 February 2008 08:29 (eighteen years ago)

Played the new one this morning, was expecting more drone or spacerock or whatever but was still quite pleased with what I got

DJ Mencap, Monday, 11 February 2008 09:59 (eighteen years ago)

New album is terrific, an early contender for album of the year. Chock-full of great riff after riff.

Herman G. Neuname, Monday, 11 February 2008 12:59 (eighteen years ago)

I hope the new album comes out on vinyl soon.

Herman G. Neuname, Monday, 11 February 2008 22:57 (eighteen years ago)

I put the new one into the changer for half an hour this afternoon, but later replaced it when Sioux City Pete & the Beggars came in the mail. I'll get back to it. Have no opinion about their old stuff.

xhuxk, Monday, 11 February 2008 23:16 (eighteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

ILX System, Tuesday, 12 February 2008 00:01 (eighteen years ago)

I should've voted for the EP, just out of principle. (Plus, EPs need all the help they can get.)

xhuxk, Tuesday, 12 February 2008 00:24 (eighteen years ago)

New album did well.

Herman G. Neuname, Tuesday, 12 February 2008 18:24 (eighteen years ago)

Anyone got the 1st album on vinyl for sale at a reasonable price?

Herman G. Neuname, Thursday, 14 February 2008 00:17 (eighteen years ago)

Herman G. Neuname, Friday, 15 February 2008 14:10 (eighteen years ago)

i just picked up hesperus. it's pretty good. seems more "desert-y" or something to me, but it's been a long while since i listened to most of their stuff.

GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ, Thursday, 17 April 2008 13:45 (seventeen years ago)

Im still waiting on vinyl, i'll probably still be saying that next time next year

Herman G. Neuname, Thursday, 17 April 2008 16:57 (seventeen years ago)
