In Dissensus terminology, this one really is a fucking no-brainer. Mott all the mighty long way.

Allen is down as from Hammersmith

Mott the Hoople take this, of course, but they were all from the Marches, surely? If memory serves Ian Hunter was from Shrewsbury and the rest from Hereford/Ross-on-Wye.

If we extend/redefine this to include a certain public school, of course, we have James Blunt, David Dundas and Mike d'Abo-era Manfred Mann. A dubious collection indeed, which MM would take if only by default.

The most revealing thing about these polls is how relatively little pop, until recently, came from off the West Coast Main Line trail. And that which didn't came largely from comparable places. It's all changed now, of course ...

Voting for Kate Nash in any context at all has a certain perversity about it ... though I wonder whether anyone else would even have got one vote if Mott had - as they should have - been in a 'Best of the Marches' poll. Indeed, that would surely reinvent the phrase "pointless exercise".

has Lily Allen even been to the Tesco's that used to be Wealdstone FC this season?

blueski, Monday, 11 February 2008 16:32 (seventeen years ago)

I doubt she has set foot in one in her life. Not that that would be wrong in itself. It's everything else about her that's wrong.

Never knew Blancmange were formed in Harrow, with Steve Luscombe himself from Hillingdon.
