Such a goldmine of reissues from these guys...I love the Bruno Spoerri record a lot, and the Yamasuki one has some great tracks, but it's got to be JCV for me. You can't go wrong with these generally though, if you like your psych.

I've voted for Mustafa Özkent as his is the Finders Keepers disc that gets the most spins in my house.

I love the PG Tips monkey let loose in the studio-style cover too.

Louie Strychnine, Wednesday, 6 February 2008 14:18 (seventeen years ago)

It's Selda (the Vannier is #2.)

FKR013 - Various - Daisies OST

-- zappi, Wednesday, 6 February 2008 14:25 (3 hours ago)

SHIT I should have known. Why I oughta!

Mister Craig, Wednesday, 6 February 2008 17:33 (seventeen years ago)

Yeah, I was scanning for Daisies and thought my eyes were broken. That's a serious poll mistake right there. It's tough, but I think I'm going to go for the Yamasuki record.

emil.y, Wednesday, 6 February 2008 17:58 (seventeen years ago)

Vannier wins it, but Selda and Valerie are absolutely astounding too. Shit, they're all great. One of the best reissue labels around.

Stew, Wednesday, 6 February 2008 20:06 (seventeen years ago)

really tough! Selda, J-C V, Sarolta Zalatnay, and Yamasuki are all really good. I was slightly disappointed by the Susan Christie ...

dmr, Wednesday, 6 February 2008 20:30 (seventeen years ago)

I was slightly disappointed by Sarolta actually. Bits too hard rock-y for my taste.

Alex in SF, Wednesday, 6 February 2008 21:08 (seventeen years ago)

it's not as consistent as the others but the best tracks remind me of Babe Ruth, funky hard rock with belted vocals

I voted for Selda

dmr, Wednesday, 6 February 2008 21:43 (seventeen years ago)

selda

so many that were left off (if you count all the Delay 68 stuff). folk & prog are not four letter words (and folk 2 that i didn't even know existed until just a second ago), chris harwood, all the mixes, don cooper, voice of the seven woods

jaxon, Thursday, 7 February 2008 02:16 (seventeen years ago)

votsw is a twisted nerve thingee

electricsound, Thursday, 7 February 2008 02:29 (seventeen years ago)

i don't like that chris harwood thing at all..

i would vote daisies ost if it was there

electricsound, Thursday, 7 February 2008 02:30 (seventeen years ago)

love the selda album. the mustafa album is awesome! haven't listened to the jean-claude album enough, but it's pretty incredible. and i just bought the susan christie album but i've only listened to the first side so far. cool label. love the packaging. vinyl sounds great. i guess i would vote for the selda too just for sheer out of thin air coolness. meaning, i bought it and didn't know a thing about it. i took a chance, in other words, and was blown away by it. i haven't heard the sarolta album and i know lots of people love that.

scott seward, Thursday, 7 February 2008 02:30 (seventeen years ago)

Stormy Davis, Thursday, 7 February 2008 03:47 (seventeen years ago)

008 is "b-music - cross continental record raid road trip"

Mustafa Özkent, easy

Jeff W, Thursday, 7 February 2008 12:26 (seventeen years ago)

Bruno Spoerri made that great album with Irmin Schmidt, didn't know he'd done anything else

Tom D., Thursday, 7 February 2008 12:29 (seventeen years ago)

I thought the Susan Christie 7" was great but the rest of her stuff isn't quite up to 'Paint A Lady'. You could probably make one really great album out of the two Welsh Rare Beat CDs. Got a lot of time for the Record Raid Road Trip comp as well. Good label.

DJ Mencap, Thursday, 7 February 2008 12:39 (seventeen years ago)

What about this one?

FKR015 - Galwad Y Mynydd

IMO, no way any of them come close to the Vannier

To reiterate:
Sarolta Zalatnay - Zalatnay Sarolta

there is a new megamix by the gaslamp killer that takes the first 20 releases and does the mashing thing to great effect.
perfect start pack for those of us too scared to dive in.
i.e. me.
