From the stage in Detroit, Kid Rock will jet to the stage in Los Angeles to perform at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards, the second time he has performed on the show. Kid Rock will join legend Keely Smith in performing “That Ole Black Magic.” Keely Smith was the first woman to ever win a Grammy, at the first ceremony fifty years ago.
― xhuxk, Sunday, 10 February 2008 00:33 (seventeen years ago)
I'M HEARING RUMBLINGS ABOUT A CIARA & JANET DUET.

KANYE WEST PERFORMING "HEY MAMA" IN TRIBUTE TO HIS MOM
Oh boy. It'll really hurt when he loses AotY this time.
― Eric H., Sunday, 10 February 2008 15:27 (seventeen years ago)
I don't think he's going to lose this time. I doubt they'll give it to Amy, who is really his only competition in that category...
― The Brainwasher, Sunday, 10 February 2008 15:29 (seventeen years ago)
Tina will bury Beyonce in an avalanche of actual talent.
I'll tune in to see Winehouse implode. Otherwise, it's Masterpiece Theatre for me.
― Alex in NYC, Sunday, 10 February 2008 15:44 (seventeen years ago)
I have to write some sort of reaction piece. I'm not looking forward to this. I can't wait until Daughtry wins something. EPIC FAIL.
― fukasaku tollbooth, Sunday, 10 February 2008 15:53 (seventeen years ago)

― The Brainwasher, Monday, 11 February 2008 01:25 (seventeen years ago)
i was flipping channels on Friday and saw/heard Ringo Starr perform some song about Liverpool, and Rachael Ray was hosting and all excited and clapping and dancing, and it was pretty much the dullest song ever. the end.

Another big win for Scientology!
Oh way to bring the room down, Ned.

Tom Cruise's area is clear.

Wait a minute. I thought HH was a Buddhist.
― Eric H., Monday, 11 February 2008 04:34 (seventeen years ago)
Dude, you're thinking Chick Corea, aren't you?
― Eric H., Monday, 11 February 2008 04:35 (seventeen years ago)
He is a Buddhist. But you didn't question the wisdom of the Little Richard, Fogerty, Jerry Lee Lewis montage. Don't question the Raggett Scientology jokes. :)
― Mordechai Shinefield, Monday, 11 February 2008 04:36 (seventeen years ago)
Those damn double consonant initialed jazz musicians are all alike to me!
― Ned Raggett, Monday, 11 February 2008 04:36 (seventeen years ago)
Weird. I thought I was signed in under my new SN. :(
― Mordy, Monday, 11 February 2008 04:37 (seventeen years ago)
oh man, obliviously dropping your long-ass probably-printed-off-a-goddamn-computer thank you list only to have THE GUY WITH THE CANE pick it up and give it to you and then congratulating the Grammy's for the brave choice of giving you the award...what a dick.
― da croupier, Monday, 11 February 2008 04:43 (seventeen years ago)
Plz say Usher saw the list drop too but just didn't give a fuck
― da croupier, Monday, 11 February 2008 04:45 (seventeen years ago)
also was Quincy saying "trust me, you're gonna enjoy that award" to Mark Ronson becuz he thinks the guy is a one-trick piece of crust from Q's ass?
― da croupier, Monday, 11 February 2008 04:46 (seventeen years ago)
"oooh, more horns over a breakbeat...kid's got legs."
― da croupier, Monday, 11 February 2008 04:47 (seventeen years ago)
Boy the glow of that last award faded fast.
― Eric H., Monday, 11 February 2008 04:51 (seventeen years ago)
for starbucks, its just begun
― da croupier, Monday, 11 February 2008 04:53 (seventeen years ago)
Results 1 - 10 of about 8,740 for herbie handcock. (0.05 seconds)
― stephen, Monday, 11 February 2008 04:53 (seventeen years ago)
Will.I.Am aside, what I saw of the show felt like that Simpsons ending where the old people take back the night.
― da croupier, Monday, 11 February 2008 04:56 (seventeen years ago)
Does he really call himself Professor Will.I.Am now?
― da croupier, Monday, 11 February 2008 04:57 (seventeen years ago)
R&B Album went to Chaka Khan. It's 1974 again (but for the music).
― Eric H., Monday, 11 February 2008 05:01 (seventeen years ago)
chaka's album is great tho
― The Brainwasher, Monday, 11 February 2008 05:04 (seventeen years ago)
I thought it was a little meh, and I say that as a relapsed Chakaholic.
― Eric H., Monday, 11 February 2008 05:05 (seventeen years ago)
It is both great (compared with any other funk album of 2007) AND a little bit meh (compared with previous Chaka stuff and/or classic jamz). SOLVED.
― Dimension 5ive, Monday, 11 February 2008 05:12 (seventeen years ago)

Good call, Kanye, what a DICK! Come correct next time, old folks.
On a more serious note, awarding record of the year to that Rehab song over Umbrella has got to be one of the more egregious outrages in a category that's an outrage just about every year. Last year some un-enjoyed Dixie Chicks number beat out a Gnarls Barkley record that clearly mashed up the galaxy. Two years ago it was a Green Day snoozer over both Hollaback Girl and Gold Digger.
― briania, Monday, 11 February 2008 05:18 (seventeen years ago)
WTF @ people still acting "outraged" over the Grammy winners
― jon /via/ chi 2.0, Monday, 11 February 2008 05:37 (seventeen years ago)
Well, 'cause that's what awards show are for. It's a contest, you've got a favorite, your favorite loses -- OUTRAGE!
― briania, Monday, 11 February 2008 05:40 (seventeen years ago)
Category 24
Best Male R&B Vocal Performance (For a solo vocal performance. Singles or Tracks only.)
Future Baby Mama Prince Track from: Planet Earth [Columbia/NPG Records]
― stephen, Monday, 11 February 2008 06:03 (seventeen years ago)
I'm sorry, but no matter who you are, congratulating the people who gave you an award for making a brave choice is a dick move.
― da croupier, Monday, 11 February 2008 06:09 (seventeen years ago)
If anything, I thought Herbie was showing Kanye how its done. Kanye's speech for rap album of the year was a lot more scattershot in its doucheyness.
― da croupier, Monday, 11 February 2008 06:10 (seventeen years ago)
i thought the beginning of kanye's performance was corny ("IS... THIS... WHAT YOU'VE BEEN WAITING FOR!?!" (producer turns up crowd noise mic) crowd: "YEAAAH!!!!!!!!!!") but live daft punk cutting + hey mama was undeniable
― J0rdan S., Monday, 11 February 2008 07:35 (seventeen years ago)

"Do they give out awards for that kind of music? I thought just earplugs."
― Dr Morbius, Monday, 11 February 2008 14:52 (seventeen years ago)
This year, with Herbie/Joni taking the top award, is so not the year to play that card.
― Eric H., Monday, 11 February 2008 15:17 (seventeen years ago)
winehouse really killed it. great performance

― Dr Morbius, Monday, 11 February 2008 19:55 (seventeen years ago)
Amber and Alice thought Amy Winehouse's speech was teh hysterical.. They worked up a version of "Camden's Burning, this one's for London, my Blake's in Carcerated, etc..." and were disappointed her speech wasn't repeated on news shows.
