No Armchair Theatre, but mainly because half of it's covers. No Night the Light Went On because it's live ffs.

Had to choose Eldorado, but Out Of The Blue was close second.

I misread this as an E.L.O. albums poll and was all ready to vote for....

wow, my dopiness is colossal. It *IS* and E.L.O. poll and not an Eno poll, in which case I would have gone with....

Yeah, I would have voted that also. The Eno one that is.

"Out Of The Blue" is a boring and "canonical" pick, but still the obvious one here.

Geir Hongro, Tuesday, 12 February 2008 00:26 (seventeen years ago)

Really? I didn't think it was the obvious one.
But, I still think it is amazing!
I thought Eldorado would have been the no-brainer.

Those two are the two ELO albums that tend to show up in "best albums of all times" polls (that is, the ones that contain more than 100 - ELO are never in the top 100)

Geir Hongro, Tuesday, 12 February 2008 00:32 (seventeen years ago)

always a bridesmaid, eh geir

Went with "New World Record," but "Eldorado" is a close second.

("Out of the Blue" would probably come in 5th.)

Hideous Lump, Tuesday, 12 February 2008 04:01 (seventeen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

ILX System, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 00:01 (seventeen years ago)

agh crap I still don't know which should get my vote.

Autumn Almanac, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 00:27 (seventeen years ago)

yeah I've been more torn over this than just about any other poll.

I'll prob be boring and go for Out of the Blue. I don't know s/t very well (except the truly magnificent high water mark "10538 Overture") and don't own anything past Xanadu.

will, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 00:42 (seventeen years ago)

Xanadu would be up there if it weren't for the Jon Farrar side (five songs = not long enough) and a total lack of remastering.

atm I'm torn between Electric Light Orchestra, ELO II, Eldorado and Time. Which is a hell of a range from which to pick a favourite.

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

The disco lovers managed to get "Discovery" at a shared #1 here.

I mean, surely it has "Horace Wimp", "Confusion" and a couple of lesser known but great album tracks. But by no means it it even close to their best album.

Geir Hongro, Thursday, 21 February 2008 00:37 (seventeen years ago)

Don't forget "Shine a Little Love", "Last Train to London" and of course "Don't Bring Me Down"!

Spencer Chow, Thursday, 21 February 2008 01:12 (seventeen years ago)

by no means it it even close to their best album.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ THIS

Autumn Almanac, Thursday, 21 February 2008 02:08 (seventeen years ago)

other than that a reasonably otm result.

Autumn Almanac, Thursday, 21 February 2008 02:09 (seventeen years ago)

I forgot those on purpose. "Shine a Little Love" is OK (although it would have been better without the disco beat). The others aren't good at all. Particularly not "Don't Bring Me Down".

Geir Hongro, Thursday, 21 February 2008 09:23 (seventeen years ago)

I forgot to vote, but would have went for 'A New World Record'.

Billy Dods, Thursday, 21 February 2008 10:43 (seventeen years ago)

I never saw this, but I'd also have picked 'ANWR' (= the sekrit winnah hurrah)

Jeff W, Thursday, 21 February 2008 11:10 (seventeen years ago)

Geir is so utterly otm in this thread.

Autumn Almanac, Thursday, 21 February 2008 20:19 (seventeen years ago)

I can't listen to "The Diary of Horace Wimp" if anyone else is in the room. Too embarrassing.

I forgot to vote, but would have went for 'A New World Record'.

Damn you both, we would have won!

Hideous Lump, Friday, 22 February 2008 01:35 (seventeen years ago)

I wouldn't have had that much of a problem with ANWR winning. I prefer "Out Of The Blue", but that one is obviously my second favourite.

"On The Third Day" is their most underrated album. And not only on ILM.

Geir Hongro, Friday, 22 February 2008 03:17 (seventeen years ago)

Showdown is bloody horrible. The rest is grebt.
