Must...think...hard...about...this...poll.

James Redd and the Blecchs, Tuesday, 12 February 2008 02:03 (seventeen years ago)

"fall on you." because it drives like a motherfucker, and that's where it's at!

(there's four bars introduction, man!)

(introduction shit!)

Lawrence the Looter, Tuesday, 12 February 2008 03:39 (seventeen years ago)

if i voted for "come in the morning" and was the only one, I would cry for my loneliness.

ian, Tuesday, 12 February 2008 04:55 (seventeen years ago)

one of the best records of the era, easy stylee.

ian, Tuesday, 12 February 2008 04:55 (seventeen years ago)

of *any* era ...

Stormy Davis, Tuesday, 12 February 2008 05:28 (seventeen years ago)

I love love love "Sitting By The Window" and voted thusly.

Elvis Telecom, Tuesday, 12 February 2008 07:58 (seventeen years ago)

I liked "Hey Grandma" but got more progressively bored...

Oh, and theMove's cover version too. wo-oh-oh Bustle!! Makes you feel so good...

Mark G, Tuesday, 12 February 2008 08:09 (seventeen years ago)

I liked "Hey Grandma" but got more progressively bored...

Sorry... does... not... compute...

So hard to chose. 8:05, Fall On You, Omaha are prob'ly my favourite tracks.

Tom D., Tuesday, 12 February 2008 09:33 (seventeen years ago)

Well, I haven't given up on it as yet, but my "buy the reissues" is on indefinate hiaitus.

Mark G, Tuesday, 12 February 2008 09:34 (seventeen years ago)

You only really need this album

Tom D., Tuesday, 12 February 2008 09:42 (seventeen years ago)

OK, I'm going with "8:05"

James Redd and the Blecchs, Tuesday, 12 February 2008 13:43 (seventeen years ago)

christ this is tough

Herman G. Neuname, Tuesday, 12 February 2008 14:15 (seventeen years ago)

It's a touch choice, but I'm going out on a limb and choosing "Indifference". I think this is the only song that gives you an idea of how they might have sounded live. It's also just crazy, with ideas everywhere, but making sense too.

Rob M v2, Tuesday, 12 February 2008 14:21 (seventeen years ago)

You only really need this album

But their best song isn't even on it! Nothing can top Seeing.

kornrulez6969, Tuesday, 12 February 2008 14:35 (seventeen years ago)

Some great songs on the other albums, but I wouldn't describe the albums themselves as being essential purchases

Tom D., Tuesday, 12 February 2008 14:36 (seventeen years ago)

That's true. If I Am Not Willing and Seeing were somehow on this record, it would have been the best album of the entire sixties.

kornrulez6969, Tuesday, 12 February 2008 14:39 (seventeen years ago)

Shaping up to be one of those every-song-gets-a-vote polls, first one I can remember since "Forever Changes"...I'm gonna say "Lazy Me".

Myonga Vön Bontee, Tuesday, 12 February 2008 14:51 (seventeen years ago)

it would have been the best album of the entire sixties

It's one of them anyway!

Herman G. Neuname, Tuesday, 12 February 2008 14:52 (seventeen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

ILX System, Saturday, 16 February 2008 00:01 (seventeen years ago)

I went with Omaha but it was a tough choice.

Herman G. Neuname, Saturday, 16 February 2008 22:35 (seventeen years ago)

"Someday", for the vocal that comes in at the end ("youuuuuuuur mind is lost...")

Euler, Saturday, 16 February 2008 22:45 (seventeen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

ILX System, Sunday, 17 February 2008 00:01 (seventeen years ago)

I voted for "8:05" in this poll and "905" in the Entwistle poll- maybe somebody will start a City Boy poll so I can vote for "5705" in that one.

James Redd and the Blecchs, Sunday, 17 February 2008 00:04 (seventeen years ago)

four months pass...

Now here's a thing...

I just cot a second hand copy of "WoW", along with the Grape Jam "freebie"...

I have to say, I like "Wow" much better than the 1st album.

(I know, yr office, etc)

I haven't quite got to runnig it at 78rpm for the Gene Autry track, but still. It reminds me of the Turtles' Battle of the Bands album, and Love.

Funny really.

Mark G, Wednesday, 18 June 2008 15:44 (seventeen years ago)

sixteen years pass...

RIP Jerry Miller. Just a couple of days ago I was getting the Skip Spence biography from the library and realized that I'd never seen any film of their performances - this performance of "8:05" is actually live.

At least he got to outlive Matthew Katz.

Halfway there but for you, Monday, 22 July 2024 02:37 (one year ago)

Oh fuck. RIP Jerry, great guitarist.

Wee boats wobble but they don't fall down (Tom D.), Monday, 22 July 2024 06:37 (one year ago)

My new band is currently learning “Hey, Grandma.” What a crazy song. Pow pow pow!

The transparently flimsy and misleading (Dan Peterson), Monday, 22 July 2024 11:19 (one year ago)

I was watching another clip of Moby Grape earlier and thinking that their super-tight all singing all playing performance reminded me of the Move... then I remembered the Move covered "Hey Grandma"!

Wee boats wobble but they don't fall down (Tom D.), Monday, 22 July 2024 12:26 (one year ago)

RIP Jerry. what a king. "Naked, If I Want To" is a perfect song

budo jeru, Monday, 22 July 2024 14:35 (one year ago)

Wish Matthew Katz hadn’t lived so long. The surviving members with Miller deserved a victory lap tour where they could play under their band’s name. R.I.P. Jerry

birdistheword, Monday, 22 July 2024 22:03 (one year ago)

Correction, they managed some shows including a one-off in 2007 (possibly their only one after 1997)
