I've got the red vinyl promo, are there different long versions than the ones on that? What's the 7" version like? And who did the edit on Disco (not Disco)? I really like this song.

Never thought of this before, but is there a non-red-vinyl 12-inch? (Because that's the one I have, too, and pretty much the only version I'm familiar with.)

Glad to hear there's a 12in out there; I've only heard it the Disco not Disco version, and it was one of my favorite cuts.

If I'm not mistaken there is at least three, the male and female versions and another one... my memory is slowly working.

There are 3 versions I know of. The original version which is 12-13 minutes long, a "dub" which is also that long, and the "edit" which is 6 minutes long. Their were two 12"s, one had the original and the dub, the other had the edit and either the original or the dub, I don't remember because I gave that one away (having the edit on Disco Not Disco, I kept my copy of the 12" with the two longer versions. I got one on eBay and one was a gift from Lee Douglas, but I eventually repaid him by giving him my only copy of Francine Mghee's Feelin' Good/Delirium.
Never seen the 7" version.
Chuck needs to hear the Disco Not Disco version, which is drastically different then the two long versions that appear on the red vinyl.

male and female? Are you thinking of Is It All Over My Face?
― dan selzer, Tuesday, 12 February 2008 20:42 (eighteen years ago)
because there's at least 3 of those, male, female and the hippie version on the Loft box set.
you mean the "Disco Sister Ray" version on the Loft box? underplayed, that one.

Oh, maybe... xpost

imo "kiss me again (version)" is the only one anyone needs to have. the jimmy simpson version and the version on disco not disco suck the life out of it to my ears.
― stirmonster, Tuesday, 12 February 2008 22:02 (eighteen years ago)
oh man, you're breaking my heard. I heard Disco Not Disco version first when Disco Not Disco came out, and it has a rawness and aggression lacking in the more complex yet subtle longer version.

The (version) version may be my favorite single recording ever.

Polmo Polpo's 20+ minute edit of it entitled "kiss me again and again" is worth mentioning here for its sheer amazingness.

just for clarification...
long a-side: 13:04 long b-side: 12:41 (my favorite)
edit: 6:53 (at least this is what my MP3 says, does this corroborate with the DND track length?)
― sleeve, Wednesday, 13 February 2008 01:24 (eighteen years ago)
oops that is supposed to be 12:42
also the two copies I have seen (long versions) were both red.
― sleeve, Wednesday, 13 February 2008 01:26 (eighteen years ago)
you wonder why they bothered with a 7" version, apparently it only goes for 3 minutes.
― haitch, Wednesday, 13 February 2008 01:32 (eighteen years ago)
the red vinyl is the promo version, apparently.
― haitch, Wednesday, 13 February 2008 01:33 (eighteen years ago)
so i guess when you guys say the (version) version it's an instrumental? i havent heard that.
― t_g, Wednesday, 13 February 2008 12:34 (eighteen years ago)
It's not an instrumental, it's just...dubbier iirc.
― dan selzer, Wednesday, 13 February 2008 14:08 (eighteen years ago)
