I'm thinking stuff like Nat King Cole w/the George Shearing Orchestra (one of my top ten all time albums!), Sinatra's Capitol Albums. Who else did this really rich stuff, big voices doing big songs with big arrangements/orchestras?

Willie Nelson - Stardust. Ok, a slightly different take on strings & standards but great nonetheless.

Another one. Try the Genius of Ray Charles. Lots of standards with strings like "come rain or come shine" and "dont' let the sun catch you cryin'" Fantastic stuff.

how could I forget, if you want classic strings & singers you gotta check out the Ella Fitzgerald sings series. You got your Ella sings Cole Porter, Ella sings Gershwin, Ella sings Rodgers & Hart, etc. Take your pick.

Here's a sample: Your Love Is Here To Stay

Or: What Is This Thing Called Love?

You can never go wrong with Al Bowlly.
