Does anyone take advantage of the theoretically unlimited length of MP3s?

As far as I know, there's no real time limit on an MP3 (if there is, by all means tell me) — it could go on for hours. I'm wondering if anyone records really long compositions, improvisations, or anything else with the specific knowledge that it won't have to be divided into chunks of 80 minutes or less. I'm guessing that if people do use really long MP3s it would be for interviews, lectures, events or DJ mixes.

DVDs could also theoretically support a single track that would last hours; I read somewhere that SACDs can go up to 110 minutes, but since most SACDs are hybrids now I doubt anyone would use the format that way.

Kind of a geeky question, I know.... Eno could do a sequel to Thursday Afternoon called Mid-March or something.

Well I'm pretty sure I've seen podcasts longer than entire CDs, but I don't know if anyone's actually released music in an extra-long mp3

I've had this idea to do a 24 hour continuous mix that simulates some kind of a journey through a day or landscape, sort of like an ultra-extended Janet Cardiff walking tour thing. But let me get back to you in a few years when it might be half realized.

I used to record jams directly into my computer on mp3 that would last like 4 or 5 hours.
