As we haven't done any Cure polls yet, it is surely about time. Starting off with my favourite album, but there is more to come later.

A very strong album indeed. Going for "A Night Like This" myself, but there are other very great songs here, such as the two singles, "Kyoto Song" and "The Blood".

(Now there's the right link, I believe)

Geir Hongro, Friday, 15 February 2008 09:49 (eighteen years ago)

In between days is possibly the best song made by anyone ever.

So, um, that one...

Mark G, Friday, 15 February 2008 09:58 (eighteen years ago)

There's been a couple of other Cure polls, I believe.

nate woolls, Friday, 15 February 2008 10:09 (eighteen years ago)

Best Cure single

Best Cure album

Best Cure b-side

nate woolls, Friday, 15 February 2008 10:16 (eighteen years ago)

Not best tracks on album polls though.

Geir Hongro, Friday, 15 February 2008 10:20 (eighteen years ago)

Six Different Ways is the one for me.

nate woolls, Friday, 15 February 2008 10:22 (eighteen years ago)

The Blood or Night Like This for me. Not my favorite album though

baaderonixx, Friday, 15 February 2008 10:42 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, up til about 92 this is maybe my least favourite Cure album. Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me will be a tough poll.

nate woolls, Friday, 15 February 2008 10:44 (eighteen years ago)

I've been meaning to start a 'The Top' thread for a while. Re-listening to the remaster the other night, I realized how much stuff was crammed into this album and that I'd still not noticed. Like the electro-fuzz bass on "Bananafishbones" for instance.

baaderonixx, Friday, 15 February 2008 10:50 (eighteen years ago)

"Close to Me"

Bee OK, Friday, 15 February 2008 10:53 (eighteen years ago)

"Screw" - most underrated song in Cure history

zaxxon25, Friday, 15 February 2008 12:14 (eighteen years ago)

"Six different ways", though I prefer the Peel Session version.

Rob M v2, Friday, 15 February 2008 12:52 (eighteen years ago)

In Between Days

Joe, Friday, 15 February 2008 13:07 (eighteen years ago)

"Push"

burn the cloying baby music on "Close to Me" and "Six Different Ways"

abanana, Friday, 15 February 2008 13:37 (eighteen years ago)

Holy Crap this is a tough one. It might've have been "Push" or "In Between Days" or even "The Baby Screams," but I have to go with "A Night Like This," because it's so fucking gorgeous.

Alex in NYC, Friday, 15 February 2008 13:39 (eighteen years ago)

such as the two singles, "Kyoto Song" and "The Blood".

the singles were "Close to Me" and "In Between Days".

abanana, Friday, 15 February 2008 13:41 (eighteen years ago)

I think you missed the comma there

baaderonixx, Friday, 15 February 2008 13:44 (eighteen years ago)

I think Geir missed the Oxford comma.

ledge, Friday, 15 February 2008 13:46 (eighteen years ago)

Geir's a comma chameleon.

Alex in NYC, Friday, 15 February 2008 13:46 (eighteen years ago)

I'll get my coat.

Alex in NYC, Friday, 15 February 2008 13:46 (eighteen years ago)

"A Night Like This," but "Sinking" nips at its heels.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Friday, 15 February 2008 13:48 (eighteen years ago)

Who gives a fuck about an Oxford comma?

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Friday, 15 February 2008 13:52 (eighteen years ago)

Sorry. I'll shoot myself now.

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Friday, 15 February 2008 13:52 (eighteen years ago)

The correct answer, btw, is "In Between Days".

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Friday, 15 February 2008 13:52 (eighteen years ago)

I know "Close To Me" and "In-Between Days" were the singles. And both were great. :)

Geir Hongro, Friday, 15 February 2008 13:53 (eighteen years ago)

There's no hyphen in In Between Days. Just keeping up the pedantry.

nate woolls, Friday, 15 February 2008 13:54 (eighteen years ago)

Pedanticness?

nate woolls, Friday, 15 February 2008 13:56 (eighteen years ago)

I remember that HI DERE really LOVES Push

I vote "a night like this"

akm, Friday, 15 February 2008 14:21 (eighteen years ago)

It gets deep

Mark G, Friday, 15 February 2008 14:33 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah I can't possibly choose between Push & Sinking, so A Night Like This wins.

Bimble, Friday, 15 February 2008 16:07 (eighteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

ILX System, Wednesday, 27 February 2008 00:01 (eighteen years ago)

the album version of "Close To Me" is my favorite CURE song.

Close to Me
Six Different Ways
The Blood
In Between Days
A Night Like This
Kyoto Song
Screw
Sinking
Push
The Baby Screams

nicky lo-fi, Wednesday, 27 February 2008 01:28 (eighteen years ago)

Sinking - the best over time.

flowersdie, Wednesday, 27 February 2008 17:15 (eighteen years ago)

haha Dan hates "Push" doesn't he? Passionately!

"A Night Like This" which is also my favorite of the Standing on a Beach collection.

wanko ergo sum, Wednesday, 27 February 2008 18:21 (eighteen years ago)

"Six Different Ways", though I do love that album version of "Close to Me" and I used to work in an office with a Coke machine that made a sound like the opening of "In Between Days" whenever it distributed a can of pop.

Eazy, Wednesday, 27 February 2008 21:11 (eighteen years ago)

akm is in so much trouble now

This is one of the few Cure albums where I'd pick a single as the best song on it. ("Close To Me")

HI DERE, Wednesday, 27 February 2008 21:13 (eighteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

ILX System, Thursday, 28 February 2008 00:01 (eighteen years ago)

gah, wish I'd seen this so "Close to Me" could've at least tied for second. although it deserves to win in a landslide. quite simply one of the finest songs ever written.

bernard snowy, Thursday, 28 February 2008 00:03 (eighteen years ago)

Those are all excellent songs. Disappointed to see "Kyoto Song" getting only one vote though - that's my second favourite on the album.
