I figure there's gotta be talk about this on Rolling Metal already? But I think it deserves a thread of its own.

Listening to "Endless Teeth" on the way home tonight and I thought of Sam Rivers big band freakout stuff.

Same with "City on a Hill" come to think of it, even moreso.

I'm hopefully going to get to see these guys a couple times here in the next few months. They're going to be at the knitting factory in a week, and there's that insanely amazing show with converge and baroness.
I'm really looking forward to hearing this whole thing. Hopefully it'll be as good as you say Hoos!

Yeah they're playing SXSW in a couple weeks, which I'd love to get into (that Relapse showcase looks incredible), but it's not likely. Looks like they'll be back through Austin in mid-April though, so I'm sure I'll catch them then.

Kerr got this for me, haven't listened to it yet though.

I have a review running in, I think, next week's Voice. I like it much more than Dead Mountain Mouth.

On paper these guys sound like my perfect band, but what I've listened to so far didn't grab me like I'd hoped. I'll reserve further judgement till I hear this new one, though.

Must admit I am not really loving Ergot.

i really dig this album but the breakdown part in the title track is pretty much exactly the same as delia & gavin's "rise"

anyway, still awesome

four weeks pass...

Some of the weepy synth n beats stuff reminds me of Dntel.

This band sounds like if Emperor and Amorphis wore white belts and lived in New Brunswick, NJ in 1999.

Really amazing album. Awesome synths (Dntel - I was thinking Notwist, but yeah, indiesynth lol), terrific riffing (after "I Won't Come Back Alive" ended I had to play it again. And then again), some tight drumming throughout - very very great. I'd love to hear more in this vein - any suggestions?

Here's that Voice review I mentioned upthread...

unperson, Saturday, 29 March 2008 21:34 (seventeen years ago)

tight drumming lol - didn't know they're all programmed... me=n00b

This album just keeps getting better and better. Really, one of the best of 08 so far. Everything about it, the synth lines, the pissed off energy, the guitar sounds...everything is so great.

three years pass...

These dudes need to get over their "break", I want a new album.
