The classics here are David Axelrod's stuff. I've got Deodato's Prelude, Deodato 2 and 2001 and they're all awesome. Great drum breakdowns and fuzz guitar and string washes and cello solos. I just got this right-up-my-alley Clivage record from the kickass dudes at MutantSounds.

What other huuuuuge sounding funky strings do you guys know of?

Black Widow by Lalo Schifrin. Mixes massive disco strings with jazz-funk very nicely. The disco-funk version of the Jaws theme in it is ridiculously ass-shaking.

This is more soul than funk or jazz, but great strings anyway. It's definitely worth getting, and not just for "Les Fleur".

Awwwwesome. Was just coming back to say that yeah, what little Schifrin I have is grand. A lot of early 70s soundtrack stuff is great. Trouble Man and such.
