No one's asked! Shocking! The authoress of "Friends," "Looking For a New Love," and the house classic "I'm the One You Need." Where is the Grammy winner these days?

she sang on a 4Hero track last year...

Classic for me. She was one of my first pop crushes as a young teen (see also: Cathy Dennis, Debbie Gibson), and her early hits are part of a personal canon of records that got me interested in pop songwriting & production.
I'd love to hear a current R&B diva do something like "Looking For A New Love" or "Most Of All" - not necessarily a cover, but something in that 110 BPM, Jam & Lewis-meets-Paisley Park style...

"Don't You Want Me" was always my fave...doesn't she have a porn-star sister who used to date Kid Rock, or did I just dream that up?...

"Friends" is classic – first time I ever heard Eric B and Rakim.

i loved/fancied* her in the 80s. i even liked a few songs off the flower album in the 90s where she tried to go neo soul-ish but most of it sent me to sleep. last i heard from her she was trying to do dancey stuff on giant step.

Jody Watley = classic.
Exhibit A: Shalamar went to shit when she left.

The 80s were a good decade for exceptionally tall black women.

Jody Watley goes LONG on all kinds of topics, but chiefly about Shalamar and being a black woman in the industry. It's like she's been bottling all this up for 20+ years and just decided to let it all out. Fucking amazing.
