Think I'll go with The Everyday World of Bodies

Herman G. Neuname, Tuesday, 19 February 2008 15:42 (eighteen years ago)

Shiner for me - a Touch and Go great...

BlackIronPrison, Tuesday, 19 February 2008 16:12 (eighteen years ago)

I was tempted to vote Shiner at 1st. But I listened to the album again and made my choice.

Herman G. Neuname, Tuesday, 19 February 2008 18:12 (eighteen years ago)

they had a song besides "the everyday world of bodies"? huh.

Edward III, Tuesday, 19 February 2008 18:50 (eighteen years ago)

I think that to a certain extent, the album's reputation is solely due to "EWOB." I like "Shiner," too, but I don't think this album is quite so well remembered if it'd been released without "Everyday World of Bodies."

If anyone were laying odds at ilxor on poll results, I'd take 1:3 on the long song.

Actually, now that I think of it, my second favorite track from these people might be "Darjeeling."

five months pass...

A bit late here. But did a search on Rodan- after just getting a hat trick with their 12 minute winner ^^^

Slint was in there being from Louisville and all, but these truckers took it further.

Fer Ark, Thursday, 21 August 2008 01:08 (seventeen years ago)

Anybody else see them at Duchess (RIP)?

Fer Ark, Thursday, 21 August 2008 01:09 (seventeen years ago)

man. hadn't thought of this one in forever. buying it was a real moment for me - it sounded so different and apart at the time, and it felt alien to me but also like it was part of something growing & vital. I didn't know anything about the scene in Louisville or anything - it just sounded like some really focused effort from way out somewhere. Haven't heard it since '95 I think.

Anybody else see them at Duchess (RIP)?

The Duchess of York? I saw them on the same tour in Brighton with Eggs and Tsunami and maybe someone else if I'm not misremembering things. Really fine band to see live. Album reminds me a bit of earlier Unrest, that same mix of gentle meets bent rage going on.

NickB, Thursday, 21 August 2008 08:19 (seventeen years ago)

Anyone remember the UK band Gauge who I guess were named after the Rodan song? They were around at about the same time as Navigator and stuff like that. Solid band.

NickB, Thursday, 21 August 2008 08:22 (seventeen years ago)

Nick B
Same tour!
- thanks for reminding me of those wonderful support bands too.
I was familiar w Tsunami but Eggs were an added bonus

I was thinking of Rodan when reading the Emo thread / Braid vs Promise Ring vs Get Up Kids thread. I hadn't / haven't listened to any of those emo albums and thought a lot while reading them about the alternate version of age 17-22 when it was instead about Polvo, Rodan, June of 44, Eric's Trip

Anyway this album is the best thing

OPÓ (Ówen P.), Friday, 13 July 2012 00:42 (thirteen years ago)

it is. spent a lot of late 90s looking for this. getting napster in 2000 was so goooooooooood

Algerian Goalkeeper, Friday, 13 July 2012 01:37 (thirteen years ago)
