inspired by
they weren't disco but they went disco s/d

the most extreme example i can think of is gilbert o' sullivan
who released his flop comeback 1990 single 'SO WHAT' to radios in a
house-d up remix on a white label. i think even the standard
version was house-y too.

there must be hundreds though from the early 90s late 80s era. obvious and otherwise.

Mark "MK" Kinchen jumped from techno to house (moving from Detroit to New York) in the process...was a big deal at the time, but looking at what I've just typed, how pithy can ya get?!

i guess Madonna was always close to it but a few of her big hits between '89 and '91 seemed closest.

remixes of big artists seemed to replace the trend of the big artists switching style directly e.g. tori amos 'professional widow' and everything but the girl's 'missing' altho they'd turn to dance directly after that. guest vocalists on dance albums was another factor maybe.

blueski, Monday, 3 March 2008 22:42 (seventeen years ago)

Madonna was house-influenced first and foremost from "Express Yourself" through some of the tracks on "Bedtime Stories". She then moved on.

Geir Hongro, Monday, 3 March 2008 22:59 (seventeen years ago)

(although you could make a case for the "Ray Of Light" being sort of house too, I guess)

Age of Chance of course.

from Kiss to Dont Get Mad Get Even in one major bandwagon jump.

The so called NYC remixes provide the full on late 80s piano house groove.
