Ok, here is why:

1. White group takes elements from hipster "rebellious" genres of black and white music. Punk/Dub or Metal/Rap

2. The main hooks come from overly melodramatic lyrics and vocal delivery

3. Music speaks mainly to a male audience

4. Sex appeal sacrificed in the name of "rigour"

5. Melody takes backseat compared ryhthm, vocals are nearly unmusical

Is "rigourous" perhaps the most meaningless adjective I've heard applied to pop music in quite a while (well, besides, "influencial")? Does anyone believe "rigourous" (or, "rigorous") has ever crossed Fred Durst's lips? "Um, that was okay guys, but this time let's do a little more rigorous! Again, with feeling! 1-2-3-4..."

before you get really worked up, I do not actually believe that PIL is the blueprint for rap metal.

I did find certain similiarities between Limp Bizkit and PIL when I was listening this afternoon.

Has anyone else here had the experience of their Metal Box getting all corroded and rusty over the years? I don't remember leaving it out in the rain. Maybe I should buy some polish.

Also, why does the music speak mainly to a male audience? I knew loads of gal PiL fans, but admittedly, that was ages ago.

When I worked in used rekord store, most of the pil tinnies we got in were a bit rusty. The starnglers "Raven" w/ 3D sleever was cooler IMO (I still own a copy of that one, but have only PIL's 1st - on CD at that)
