oscar, Wednesday, 12 March 2008 00:42 (seventeen years ago)

This is the comp that made me stop buying Ninja Tunes records, lol.

HI DERE, Wednesday, 12 March 2008 00:44 (seventeen years ago)

they were on their way out by this point, yes.

oscar, Wednesday, 12 March 2008 00:45 (seventeen years ago)

I definitely bought this comp and can't remember a damned thing about any of these tracks

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 12 March 2008 00:49 (seventeen years ago)

and what, Wednesday, 12 March 2008 00:51 (seventeen years ago)

cinematic orchestra still kills live

oscar, Wednesday, 12 March 2008 00:52 (seventeen years ago)

I just got DJ Food's Kaleidoscope on vinyl from ebay. It's the only NinjaTune that still does anything for me.

I remember buying this comp and thinking "Holy shit - I just bought a box-set of FUCKIN' AWESOME" and then getting home with it and being completely underwhelmed. The fucking Infesticons...jesus.

I remember the Amon Tobin remix being pretty alright so I'll vote for that.

kingkongvsgodzilla, Wednesday, 12 March 2008 00:56 (seventeen years ago)

i remember seeing a dj battle between amon and dj cam from france. aha. they were both terrible as battle dj's, but amon got the better crowd response when he mixed a roy ayers track w cameo and made the crowd go bonkers.

cinematic orchestra still kills live

Oh yeah, I can still dig cinematic orchestra too, although the remix on disc three was NOT as good as the original.

kingkongvsgodzilla, Wednesday, 12 March 2008 01:02 (seventeen years ago)

perhaps I should qualify "utter garbage" with "compared to every ninjatune or ntone or whatever sublabel comps they released before it"

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 12 March 2008 01:03 (seventeen years ago)

which I basically own all of and can pick some winners from each even if I haven't listened to them in years

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 12 March 2008 01:04 (seventeen years ago)

Tom and everyone else pretty much OTM. I somehow made the mistake of mostly borrowing Ninja Tune stuff up to this point from a friend and this comp was one of the first things I actually bought, making me hesitant to really jump on anything else from the label.

Were the Quannum guys briefly distributed by Ninja Tune in the UK after Mo'Wax pretty much folded? I can't remember why the hell else they'd be on here.
