Well, the lyrics seem to suggest that the song's protagonist (Joe himself?) is willing to go whatever lengths he feels necessary to gain the affection he feels he is owed by his suitor: "Gimme what you promised me, now give it here.." etc. Will Joe stop short of rape before his demands are met? What do you think, Hoos?

I've always thought the Hollies' "Stop Stop Stop" was creepily about a potential rapist.

In fact, too many songs about playing hopscotch with your schoolgirl crush makes the Hollies kinda creepy overall. Fortunately, they're totally fab, so that makes up for it.

Magazine "Permafrost"

This thread just made me think of perhaps the creepiest music mag front page ever.

You know, there is a worst NME cover thread and a few similar ones for other mags too. But surely one of the worst, regardless of which mag, must have been the now defunct Norwegian mag Beat, who in a mid edition had a cover featuring a pic of Metallica, and the header (in Norwegian): "Metallica: Yes to rape"

The sentence had no other justification than the fact that the writer behind the article had this subjective opinion that Metallica's music did (in a positive way) rape the listener. And the mag used this on the frontpage in a way that made it look like the members of Metallica did actually support rape.
