Too hard.

Dom Passantino, Thursday, 13 March 2008 12:25 (seventeen years ago)

Tough one (ignoring your question as to which to buy next - which do you have already?). Trouble over Bridgwater 'cos it was the first one I bought? Four Lads for A Country Practice alone? I think I might go with Voyage over these, but I'm really not sure why.

Bocken Social Scene, Thursday, 13 March 2008 12:32 (seventeen years ago)

I'll just buy the top one I haven't got.

nate woolls, Thursday, 13 March 2008 12:33 (seventeen years ago)

Went with Cammell Laird Social Club, there really isn't a wasted second on that album.

Dom Passantino, Thursday, 13 March 2008 12:34 (seventeen years ago)

You need them all anyway, so it doesn't really matter which order. And the EPs. And there's a new one this year (although I'm not a massive fan of Achtung Bono - the music's not quite as um, varied as in the previous three).

Bocken Social Scene, Thursday, 13 March 2008 12:40 (seventeen years ago)

Do you really need "varied" music when you've got "We Built This Village On A Trad Arr Tune"?

Dom Passantino, Thursday, 13 March 2008 12:41 (seventeen years ago)

I'm not keen on Achtung Bono either. My favourite is probably Trouble Over Bridgwater.

Colonel Poo, Thursday, 13 March 2008 12:44 (seventeen years ago)

Fair point. Also Achtung's worth getting (except you can get it at www.hmhb.co.uk) just for the Echo letters pages in the sleeve.

Bocken Social Scene, Thursday, 13 March 2008 12:45 (seventeen years ago)

Yeah, I think Achtung Bono might be my least favourite. I think Dom's right, Cammell Laird Social Club might be the most consistently brilliant. (Although I'm romantically still tempted to vote for McIntyre just for Everything's AOR.)

Funnily enough, I got the first two, did a blitz downloading tracks about 5 years back, and got AchBon, played once, quite liked it not played it again.

So, I'd have to check the tracklistings of those other ones. But too often the song titles bear little relation to the content.

My fav recently was the remake of the one that has the "whole world in his hand", the first was great but the rewrite was best.

Mark G, Friday, 14 March 2008 10:49 (seventeen years ago)

I sort of baulked at buying the first album, as it was full price and the prevailing trend was 'budget' priced ep's 8 tracks tops. Bit it, got it, played it more than those 'pay no more than's.
