Diamonds & Dirt has this incredible swagger & some of the most bitchin Nashville gunslinging, and classic tunes too, but The Houston Kid...damn that's some great songwriting

I only know the remake of "I Walk The Line" off The Houston Kid, and it's pretty good. Maybe I should pick up the record.
But Diamonds and Dirt is great. Crowell's not my favorite vocalist, but the playing on the record is fantastic, as you note. Mark O'Connor's mandolin break on "The Last Waltz" breaks my heart every time. The singles are great of course.
