"What You Want" is underrated in the sense that it is the greatest song of all time, and doesn't get mentioned everyday in every conversation. Loads of B-sides are underrated just because they're not as well known as material off of Isn't Anything Loveless, "Honey Power" being my favorite.

honey power

6335, Monday, 24 March 2008 22:45 (eighteen years ago)

the pinefox, Monday, 24 March 2008 22:56 (eighteen years ago)

uhhh no way dude, not that thats not great

deeznuts, Monday, 24 March 2008 22:57 (eighteen years ago)

I think it's the one that goes "OOOOEWEEEWOOEOOOWOOOOOEEEEEEWeEEEEEEEEOOOO" in the guitar.

HI DERE, Monday, 24 March 2008 23:05 (eighteen years ago)

could 'all I need' be underrated?

the pinefox, Monday, 24 March 2008 23:10 (eighteen years ago)

Slow

burt_stanton, Tuesday, 25 March 2008 00:51 (eighteen years ago)

I think it's the one that goes "OOOOEWEEEWOOEOOOWOOOOOEEEEEEWeEEEEEEEEOOOO" in the guitar.

Don't be ridiculous, Dan. It's the one with the sighing vocals.

"Emptiness Inside"

All My Bloody Valentine songs are vastly, vastly overrated.

yeah off your face was def an old fave of mine, back when all i had was the glider ep. that and 'don't ask why'

electricsound, Tuesday, 25 March 2008 03:02 (eighteen years ago)

Honey Power

eeyore19, Tuesday, 25 March 2008 03:03 (eighteen years ago)

"Moon Song" is a great choice. And "Don't Ask Why". And all of the songs on the "You Made Me Realise" EP (except the title track itself).

I guess it's reasonable to say that everything from 1988 onwards is too well known to be underrated, so my real answer would have to be "Sunny Sundae Smile" or "Lovelee Sweet Darlene" (no sighing vocals in that one Ned, so you were RONG) :P

NoTimeBeforeTime, Tuesday, 25 March 2008 09:16 (eighteen years ago)

I've always had a soft spot for "Strawberry wine" and "Please lose yourself in me", they seem to have that trebly gauzy feel about them showing where they were heading, but still with enough links to the Byrdsy past of where they came from.

no love for 'swallow'?

poortheatre, Tuesday, 25 March 2008 09:48 (eighteen years ago)

I think the correct answer might be one of [She Loves You No Less / I Don't Need You / Safe In Your Sleep From This Girl]

the pinefox, Tuesday, 25 March 2008 11:52 (eighteen years ago)

poortheatre,you git!

Beat me to it - correct call with Swallow!

The chords, the lolling beat, that strange Eastern, erm , riff.
A real Beaut.

nabisco, Monday, 7 April 2008 19:40 (eighteen years ago)

(I.e., "c'mon, EVERYONE rates their 'One We Became MBV' stuff, but all that campy buzzsaw Dave Conway stuff was pretty rad, actually")

has Kevin ever talked about the Byrds song “what’s happening”? The verse chord progression and vocal melody is very MBV and then there’s that big tripped out guitar bend that McGuinn does.
