Back before mobile phones ruined it, rumours used to fly round Glastonbury that Prince had been spotted, Cliff Richard had died etc. My favourite was back in 1997 that the festival had been cancelled, but the police had surrounded the outside of the site and were on 'shoot to kill' orders...

the led zep reunion of 93, the bowie coming on with suede one - also 93, the barry white surprise appearance on sunday which every band seemed to be mentioning onstage in 2000 i think, there was also that year that the Q/Select daily paper deliberately printed lies in the NEWS bit like saddam hussain has been captured etc.
