When will they put Reflecting Skin on DVD goddamnit?

Nate Carson, Thursday, 3 April 2008 08:01 (seventeen years ago)

"Reflecting Skin" is freaking awesome. As is "The Passion of Darkly Noon." Darkly Noon is on DVD, finally, but no word on Reflecting Skin.

I didn't realize Viggo was in Reflecting Skin, I saw it years before I registered who he was. It really blew me away in high school.

I only have 1 of his buckethead albums (Intelligence Failure), but as much as I like both of them, I found it rather ponderous. Mostly sound clips of George W. Bush & co. with Buckethead noodling in the background.

However, making 7 self-financed indie records with Buckethead probably means that Viggo is the coolest person in the world.

what's his worst?

caek, Thursday, 3 April 2008 18:35 (seventeen years ago)

The Christopher Walken pseudo-Biblical pseudo-horror flick The Prophecy is actually kinda better than that description makes it sound, and Viggo's portrayal of Lucifer in it is terrific.

His worst? Maybe Boiling Point, a detective sorta thing with Wesley Snipes. Although the scenes with Viggo and Dennis Hopper are great.

Two that are better than you'd expect: "The Young Americans" and especially "American Yakuza," which ranks right up there with my favorite Viggo flicks.

Oh, and his photography is really good. He's had several books of photography and poetry published. And in fact he's got a photography exhibit in Iceland this spring and one in Denmark this summer.

(P.S. Viggo is the best Lucifer EVAH!)

He also put out a CD in 1997 called "One Less Thing to Worry About," which is mostly poetry over music, which I probably paid $1 for (pre-Aragorn), which I admittedly bought just because Exene is on it, and which I've never had the guts to listen to until this very minute as I have no use for poetry.

The first track is 1:15 of pencil scratching sounds. Otherwise it's pretty spare and distant in mood, which I'm enjoying.

But seeing as how that was written and directed by the man who wrote and directed the greatest film ever made (Some Call It Loving), it's definitely worth a look.

Prophecy is pretty rad, if only for the dead angels in heaven scenes. Somehow I have seen 3 of these Prophecy movies and I don't recall the sequels being worth much...

This is an amazing scene of what Lucifier, the devil, really is like and probably the most accurate depiction of him recorded on film.

Damn. Now I have to go watch Prophecy again. Thanks, dudes.
