Any Liz fans out there? She just signed to ATO Records. Exile in Guyville will be re-released on June 24th, in time for its 15th anniversary, with four bonus tracks and a documentary DVD "Guyville Redux". And a new album is due out in the fall. More info here.

new album is said to be a return to form, and very similar thematically and production-wise to Guyville.

Fantastic album. Not sure that I will be forking out unless it gets the re-master treatment, however. The original sounded a little flat on my headphones the other day.

four bonus tracks? would it kill them to include a whole disc of girlysound?

Not just Girlysound - there's so much stuff from that era that could be included. Several radio sessions she did after the release of "Guyville" that were all new awesome songs that never got released on any album!

they better remaster that shit. guyville's in my top ten of all time. i have hopes that her new album will be good, but i feel more confident that it'll suck anyway.

Guyville was one of the albums that was due so much to a particular time/place/period of her life that I can only scoff at the idea of her returning to anything resembling that album. I would, however, be happy with a return to form of Whip-Smart.

Does anyone know why this is on ATO? Did Matador have the chance to buy it but passed? I just wish it was given the Pavement-y treatment.

did anyone see her do this show in NYC a few weeks ago? I heard it was awful.

the chicago reviewers seemed to hate her, but people in other cities/the unwashed masses were a lot more positive. i think the nyc shows were better received than the chicago shows in general, though, aside from an ill-advised attempt at stage banter for new york in which liz referred to exile as a "new york album" (fail).

oh it was the chicago show I read a review of actually

The shows were pretty bad. I saw two of them. The banter was painful to hear. Big up, Cubs fans! Liz regained the rights to Guyville and just licensed them to ATO.
