It's a loud 40-minute Ed Banger-esque Hipster Fucking Fudge Parfait Rock Pop Tech Orgy type album that I'll probably forget about by summer. But damn if this isn't one of the most fun albums I've heard in years.
Are they flat out parodying The Killers in "Being Bad Feels Pretty good"? And the song is catchier than anything The Killers have done. (and i'm not a Killers hatah.)
Best song is "With a Heavy Heart (I Regret To Inform You)"

People try to take my soul away, but I don't hear the rap that they all say They try to tell us we don't belong, that's alright, we're millions strong This is my music, it makes me proud, these are my people and this is my crowd
These are crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy nights These are crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy nights
Sometimes days are so hard to survive, a million ways to bury you alive The sun goes down like a bad bad dream You're wound up tight, gotta let off steam They say they can break you again and again, if life is a radio, turn up to ten
These are crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy nights These are crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy nights These are crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy nights These are crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy nights
And they try to tell us that we don't belong But that's alright, we're millions strong You are my people, you are my crowd, this is our music, we love it loud
Yeah, and nobody's gonna change me, 'cos that's who I am
These are crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy nights These are crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy nights These are crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy nights These are crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy nights These are crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy nights These are crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy nights

i heard 'lets make out'
how do you say, "does it offend you, yeah?" seems like it needs some more punctuation. they must be british or something.
― artdamages, Saturday, 5 April 2008 20:12 (seventeen years ago)
One of the worst albums I have been heard this year.
― zeus, Saturday, 5 April 2008 20:23 (seventeen years ago)
lol ewing/pfork, et tu?
Great review, although everything tom describes is what makes me like not dislike this record. And the Klaxons are really boring fwiw.
― Mackro Mackro, Saturday, 5 April 2008 20:29 (seventeen years ago)
The MySpace songs are annoying.
― Daniel, Esq., Saturday, 5 April 2008 20:44 (seventeen years ago)
Kind of liking this.

Klaxons >>>>>>>>>>> DIOYY?
At least Klaxons don't want to be the British Justice.

Unfortunately.

I agree with both Mackro and And What. But maybe it's because I'm the world's biggest Killers fan. Any other recommendations for someone just getting into music like this?
― Robby in HR, Saturday, 5 April 2008 21:43 (seventeen years ago)
i just got this in the mail today. i'll report back with my expert opinion.
― scott seward, Saturday, 5 April 2008 22:22 (seventeen years ago)
okay, i can't take this. granted, i've only listened to the first minute of the first song...these treble crews make my teeth hurt. appropriate that i also got a boyz noize remix ep in the mail today too.
― scott seward, Saturday, 5 April 2008 22:47 (seventeen years ago)
JUSTICE quote on the front of the BOYS NOIZE EP:
"BOYS NOIZE makes the words 'German', 'Techno', and 'DJ' sound COOL again."
and this from someone named BUSY P:
"Best artist of 2007...We play probably 15 of his tracks every night."
!!!!
remind me to never go to BUSY P's house.
― scott seward, Saturday, 5 April 2008 22:55 (seventeen years ago)
Busy P is the guy that runs Ed Banger, so yeah.

Does It Offend You, Yeah? - You Have No Idea What You're Getting Into
^^^ in 50 years people will look at this band and album title and have no idea whom you're talking about, but I bet they'll be able to tell you that it must have come out in 2008 because in no other year in musical history would anyone get away with this bullshit yo
― Curt1s Stephens, Saturday, 5 April 2008 23:23 (seventeen years ago)

"We Are Rockstars" is so so great.
― Spencer Chow, Saturday, 5 April 2008 23:53 (seventeen years ago)
justice' OH SO OPPOSITIONAL stance re: "dance music" is just fucking tiring. for plenty of people there's nothing wrong with "german," "techno" + "DJ," and there hasn't been for a long time. and if there were anything wrong with those three terms, it's hardly like boys noize is reinventing the form so radically to transcend everything else. (his best tracks sound like the areal label, anyway.) the whole edbanger obsession with COOLNESS is also really effing tiring, but then i'm old, and de facto ineligible.
― pshrbrn, Sunday, 6 April 2008 16:54 (seventeen years ago)
COOLNESS is pretty much the only thing that matters when it comes to rock music that you're supposed to dance to
― Preview of the Matrix 12, Sunday, 6 April 2008 17:06 (seventeen years ago)
Yeah, not whether it's actually any good or not or anything silly like that.
― Bodrick III, Sunday, 6 April 2008 17:08 (seventeen years ago)
but it is good
― Preview of the Matrix 12, Sunday, 6 April 2008 17:09 (seventeen years ago)
Think "coolness" is being used to mean "hipness" in this context, though. Not as in: "Hey, cool song!"
― Bodrick III, Sunday, 6 April 2008 17:13 (seventeen years ago)
Don't think Does It Offend You, Yeah? sound much like stuff on Ed Banger, anyways.
― Bodrick III, Sunday, 6 April 2008 17:14 (seventeen years ago)

I don't know anymore.
― Dom Passantino, Sunday, 6 April 2008 17:28 (seventeen years ago)
I bet Primal Scream are listening to this junk - which does nothing for me - with the same scared intensity that Suede probably had when they heard The Flaming Lips for the first time.
― Chelvis, Monday, 2 June 2008 20:08 (seventeen years ago)
"bernard! bernard! cam quick. he's singing about vaseline or saaamfing. I am proper terrifoyed, I am. I awlmost spiwlt my tea! ooooh moi suburban dreams of nuclear toides..."

Those were good times when The Flaming Lips totally wiped out Suede. WTF?
― Raw Patrick, Monday, 2 June 2008 22:48 (seventeen years ago)
I'm 47 . These sound exciting Are they at a festy ? I need to catch them whilst hot. Best band name in years - they sound Warsomely with it.

indie 103.1 has been playing "we are rockstars" pretty much every 15 minutes. i think i like it.
― get bent, Tuesday, 3 June 2008 02:32 (seventeen years ago)
These guys played probably the single worst dj set I ever heard in my life.
― J@cob, Tuesday, 3 June 2008 03:02 (seventeen years ago)
There's one really good number on this baby - the instrumental number Attack of the 50 foot Lesbian Octopus. Nowhere near as good as The Revillos though, who is who it sounds like.

― Curt1s Stephens, Tuesday, 3 June 2008 04:17 (seventeen years ago)
it DOES offend you, haha!
― strgn, Tuesday, 3 June 2008 04:45 (seventeen years ago)
OK, it was the BEAST 2008 ALBUM EVAH for just this past spring, but it's still in my Top 10 of the year. I still listen to this on/off.
And the thread wasn't a joke, actually. (i <3 dom.)
Noticing the hate for this band, while universal, is particularly strong in the UK. Is it one of those "DIOYY? singing : UK :: Blink 182 singing : USA" things that just translates a little better across the pond?
