The shtickiness of "Peek-a-Boo" edging out the boogie motion of "Cities in Dust."

Pee'an'Boo - make my day anyday!

"Dear Prudence" is one of extremely few Beatles covers that is better than the original. So that one then.

"Dear Prudence" is one of extremely few Beatles covers that is better than the original.

You need to listen to that original more closely for the gorgeous way it opens.

"Slowdive" was one of my favorite things around the time it came out, and I still like several of these songs, but I'm going to go with "Cities in Dust," which somehow feels like an overly safe choice, but I like it.

You should give the Beatles more of a chance Geir.

Tempted to vote for 'Face to Face'

"Peek-A-Boo" - it sounded exciting and different in its time and it still sounds utterly unique.

Great Beatles cover I'd never heard before played on Saturday's Sounds Of The '60s show on Radio 2 - "Strawberry Fields Forever" by Tomorrow, given the straight rock treatment in '68; it sounds like Oasis (but better)!

Dingbod Kesterson, Monday, 7 April 2008 12:31 (seventeen years ago)

While we're on the subject - Spooky Tooth's version/demolition of "I Am The Walrus" doesn't get nearly enough love.

Dingbod Kesterson, Monday, 7 April 2008 12:33 (seventeen years ago)

You should give the Beatles more of a chance Geir.

I guess I have done ;), but White Album is overrated, as is absolutely everything John Lennon wrote after "I Am The Walrus".

In the case of both, a straight rock treatment was wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong.

See Tim Roth in that new film Funny Games? That's you that is. With any luck.

This is the only place to find the stunning 7" version of "Fireworks" on CD.

Mr. Odd, Monday, 7 April 2008 15:20 (seventeen years ago)

Yes, pretty much the only reason to get this.

Boy, did the Superstition singles suck

baaderonixx, Monday, 7 April 2008 15:36 (seventeen years ago)

The best on this for me are "Overground", "Candyman", and "Peek-a-boo". Great Severin bass playing on "Candyman" so I'll go with that one.
Does anybody know why "Song from the edge of the world" wasn't included on the comp?

LeRooLeRoo, Monday, 7 April 2008 19:58 (seventeen years ago)

Quite tempted by 'Last Beat of My Heart' - the one that made Severin well up when he first heard it.

But probably 'Dear Prudence' has the edge.

I quite like 'Kiss them for Me' and I loved her look on the video:
