Definitive Jux or Def Jux (both shortened forms of Definitive Juxtaposition) is an independent hip hop record label based in New York City, United States, co-founded in 1999 by former Company Flow member El-P (real name Jaime Meline) and Amaechi Uzoigwe. The record label was initially known simply as Def Jux, but in 2001 popular hip hop label Def Jam sued Def Jux over the name similarity. This lawsuit was settled out of court and the name was officially changed to Definitive Jux. The label is still commonly referred to as Def Jux by fans.

I like a lot of this, but ended up voting for Murs. He's like the Barack Obama of rap! (I'm very impressed with several of his songs where he's been outspoken, honest, and straightforward about race and hiphop and for that matter race in general.)

Also, his sex rhymes are hilarious.

Oilyrags, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 16:53 (seventeen years ago)

I voted Mr. Lif as I cannot get enough of I Phantom *and* Mo' Mega right now.

stephen, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 16:54 (seventeen years ago)

dizzee but he doesn't really count.

that mike ladd album that def jux apparently re-released has some of his best shit.

tempted to vote aesop rock just for the beats on labor days.

If this is overall, Mike Ladd by a country mile, but if it's just Def Jux releases I guess I'd go with CanOx.

Alex in SF, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 17:59 (seventeen years ago)

I didn't see Dizzee. Him and Ladd would be close actually.

Alex in SF, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 18:01 (seventeen years ago)

That Party Fun Action Committee shows potential for about 3 tracks. wtf, when is prince paul and weird al hookin up to make an album?

U-Haul, Monday, 14 April 2008 01:50 (seventeen years ago)

Would have voted Murs

The Reverend, Monday, 14 April 2008 03:59 (seventeen years ago)

O.k., I'm confused. I love The Cold Vein as much as the next guy, but why would Cannibal Ox get so many votes? They released one album, and everything they've done since has been mediocre at best. El-P has far better quality control.

Also, who the hell voted Yakballz?

brightscreamer, Monday, 14 April 2008 04:20 (seventeen years ago)

hi i like mr. lif because i saw him once

strgn, Monday, 14 April 2008 04:23 (seventeen years ago)
